Isolated, turned inward, and more than a little creepy, the town is the monster in this tale. It rarely lets people go: characters are born and die here - and only if theyâ€™re very lucky does the latter come as the natural end to a long life.

We Die Here uses three stats for player characters, and the town itself and its inhabitants: Need, Want, and Secret. All actions start with a dice pool of 1D6, adding D6's if the action fits the character's concept, Need, Want or Secret, and subtracting D6's as the town and its inhabitants try to hinder them. On normal rolls, a 5-6 on any die counts as a success.
