RPG Crowdfunding Collections

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #115, including every tabletop rpg project started between 08/04 and 08/18.

After having been to the RatCon convention, there are no fewer than 66 projects.
First I’d like to briefly address the two German language ones. Dungeon Crawl Classic is being translated by System Matters and I am tempted; despite the artwork. Fans of The Dark Eye and Cthulhu should check out Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos für das Schwarze Auge which combines the unlikely pair.
Onto the English projects, I am quite enticed by the Patreon of Samjoko Publishing for creating the Babel Magazine. The magazine offers English translations from tabletop rpgs from all over the world, an exciting endeavor, which got me to join the projects in the second I learned of it.
If you like gm-less story games, you should have a look at Dusk to Midnight. The game puts the players in the role of mech-soldiers doomed to be on the loosing side of a war, while not necessarily ending in tragedy. I consider the setting interesting, the zine-format as nifty and backed it. Another interesting setting, in my opinion, is offered by Titans Trail. The combination of Mecha, Kajiu und Victoriana, basically putting Pacific Rim and Dowtown Abbey into a mixer does sound intriguing enough that I got an eye on it. In comparison the setting of USAGI YOJIMBO is almost traditional. As traditional as a samurai tale with anthropomorphic animals can be. The setting is based on the Manga by the same name and the new edition does got fitted with the PbtA-engine. Which sounds quite cool. I haven’t read the „For the Crown and the Dragon“ novel by Stephen Hunt, sollten yet if you did – or like „weird historical fantasy“ – you might take a look at the Crown and Dragon Kickstarter, which fits it with the Savage World system. The Realm of the Gateway offers an original setting that spans and combines science fiction and fantasy covering various genres. If you are curious, you can check out the base rules on DTRPG. Back to a Story Game, Collateral Damage puts you in the role of the side-characters in an action scenario. This can cover various genres, as long as there is action, and the main goal is to make it out alive. The game aims to provide a fast one-shot experience and does sound fascinating.
There are as well two Break Kickstarter campaigns. Carbyne Jungle has an interesting setting of mixing science fiction and fantasy while offering three distinctly different play modes that can still be utilized in one game with each other. Which sounds like quite a feat and spiked my interest. Then there’s Broken! which doesn’t have either a setting or a system, but lets backers vote on it via their pledges, which I find quite strange.
Of course there are other projects, like the D&D sourcebooks The Islands & Aswangs Book, offering an insight into Filipino myth and folklore, and Witchcraft: Magic of Hereva, for the fans of the web comic. There are many cool sourcebooks to help you build your setting or city like Magical Industrial Revolution, City Builder and Maps: Buildings, Castles and Dungeons.
Well, there are many more sourcebooks, adventures, dice and many many other projects, see for yourself:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #116, including every tabletop rpg project started between 08/18 and 08/26.

You’ll find the new game Never Knows Best created by Fraser Simons offers a quite unique setting as you play teens who can transform into robots to deal with their problems and growing up. Taking cues from FLCL – or „FuriKuri“ as I remember the series – the setting promises to be a tad bit wild. The system is a mix of Powered by the Apocalypse and Blades in the Dark. I am intruiged and starred the project. The only other fully fledged game in the list is The Quantum Drift. From what I understood it takes the tradition of „forum fiction rpgs“, where one continues a story from the perspective of their character in essentially a writers circle, and takes it to Facebook. I think it sounds interesting, yet am a bit confused about the need to crowdfund it.
Next to the games there are two Patreons. On the one hand you can support Tracy Barnett as they are creating tabletop rpgs (I guess story games style), podcasts, offer streaming and more. On the other hand you might look at the Patreon of Anna Kreider and help her writing about feminism in game and helping marginalizted groups. I think both patreons are pretty cool.
Among the sourcebooks I am most tempted by On Downtimes and Demesense. The topics are quite interesting and I am having an eye on it. If you’d like to check it out, it has already less than a week to go. For fans of richly illustrated fantasy rpgs Trudvang Chronicles: Mupselheim is a must see. Well, and if you like to have another combat system for a popular fantasy setting, check out the Percentile dice combat module. You might as well marvel at dice like The Path of Chaos Metal RPG Dice Set or the Solid Brass Raised Pip Dice.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #117, including every tabletop rpg project started between 08/26 and 09/09.

Following a small break, I am back with no fewer than 64, of which 16 are actual new games. Giving a small shout out to a new German game, I think SteaMage is worth having a look, though with that being said, back to the English ones

Rod, Reel, & Fist is a quite unique game with its focus on actual fishing. I like how the task, which can be boring when not done in real life, is spiced up with dramatic tension and realized with a narrative system. The author did a fine job with The Dawnline and I am actually very tempted to back the book. If you are new to games or want to introduce someone to the hobby, maybe First Look is a good choices. It focuses on one-shots and being accessible. Tenebria on the other hand has a more ’serious‘ approach. It places the player as the remains of the fallen Roman empire in the titular town and has them defend it against overwhelming forces. Back to the more family friendly all-age games you might be interested in The Magical Land of Yeld. The game looks cute and I guess it ain’t a brutal hunt for mermaids. Should you be rather looking for some multi-genre game, The Realm of the Gateway is again trying to be funded.
Then there are quite some fantasy games. Like the rather dark Hunters of the Chalice Lands, which has beautiful illustrations and comes with a D&D 5E/OSR ruleset. Thus being not to far off the Black Hack based Barbarians of the Ruined Earth by Mike Evans. If you like the setting by Mantics, you’ll probably fancy the Kings of War Role-Playing Game and fans of Stephen Hunt get another chance at funding Crown and Dragon.
If you took interest in the Blades in the Dark game engine Forged in the Dark and like near future action games, check out Adrenaline: Near Future. I got an eye on its progression. Fans of Powered by the Apocalypse can get their fill of Magical Girl tropes with Glitter Hearts and if they were to rather explore a basically tokyo setting should have a look at Shibuyan Knights.
Which ain’t the only Anime or „Japanese popculture“ inspired games. There’s Henshin! A Sentai RPG on the one hand. Where you fight basically as a mighty power ranger against evil (tho without dice). Well and Wave Man where your character is a Samurai or Ninja, maybe both, and can brave adventures in solo play mode or with friends.
Those who are into SF might take a look at the expansive TerrorForm rpg. It appears to offer quite some background and caters to several styles of play. Well and am not sure how much SF is in Worm Hole to Uranus, yet it got a buttload of „uranus“ jokes and appears to be a fun beer & pretzels party game.
There are many, many, more cool project. Which I can’t possible all mention. Thus take a look for yourself::

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #118, including every tabletop rpg project started between 09/09 and 09/15.

In this collection you’ll finde 8 roleplaying games.
I’ll start with Hyper Light Drifter. The game is based on the videogame by the same name and shares its aesthetics as well as setting. Thus the players will be exploring a post-apocalyptic world with forgotten technologies to discover using a d20 system alongside tactical combat using a mat. The whole game will come in a stylish SNES style packaging and it does look enticing. Then there’s the Otherworlds RPG. It’s a colorful rpg with a varied fantasy setting that has some SF elements here and there. Personally, I like the vampires, of whom some can turn into giant spiders (cool!) and it has a kind of „energetic“ vibe to it which is why I got it starred. In regards to the system it looks rather tradition. Retired on the other hand is a story game that sees two gamers – narrator and a player – exploring the retirement life of a former super villain. The concept sounds fresh as well as interesting and I trust Caias Ward in realizing projects, thus take a look and give it a chance. If you prefer playing heroes maybe Disposable Heroes is better suited to your interest. Though heroes might be a bit optimistic for glorified mail man in this card based PbtA rpg. It does sound interesting. Then there’s Neotoma with it’s original Science Fiction setting with some Sword & Sorcery elements. It does use d12 and d20 for its system, the character sheet looks rather traditional and if you want to learn more you should follow the link to its website. Then there’s SLICE, a rules light game that should be approachable to kids. Well and there’s Ashes of New Earth, which aims to finance the Art for the game.
I wasn’t actually sure how to fit in SQUABBLES or whether it fits at all. The term roleplaying game is used in the more educational to therapeutic sense of trying to teach lessons. In this case how to handl, react and resolve conflicts based on the methods devolped by Brooks Gibbs. It’s still a game, yet not exactly a normal „roleplaying game“.
Among the other projects I am highly enamored with the Story Engine deck. It offers various sets of card to come up with stories including characters, antagonists, aspects, twists and more. I like the idea, presentation, did back it and do recommend having a look. Another project worthwhile checking out is Homunculus Assembly Line, a magazine which is created in a collaboration of 6 artists who all contribute to the project.
There are many more fascinating and cool adventures, sourcebooks, dice and more! Just take a look:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #119, including every tabletop rpg project started between 09/15 and 09/22.

This time around with no fewer than 13 roleplaying games in English, with one of those coming from Germany.
Aces in Space is a project done by Christian Vogt and his teams. The setting has the players assume the role of daring space pilots and is somewhere between Battlestar Galactica and Sons of Anarchy with some Social Media elements thrown into the mix. The whole presentation is, imho, so brilliant that I backed it, despite my personal aversion towards Fate Core. Another cool setting that does tempt me a lot is Heart: The City Beneath by Grant Howitt. The Deep Apiarist with its swarms of bees caught my eye and has me enticed. The system of the games is inspired or rather based on the one in The Spire and those who back it get a quickstarter upon pledging. 10 Workers United isn’t a phantastical game but highlights the necessity of unions. The zine is a direct reaction towards Kickstarter firing workers who claim they got the boot because they tried to unionized. I backed it. If your more interested in spies and villains with super powers, you should take a look at CAPERS Covert. The charming setting is supported by the tried and tested card based system of CAPERS and CAPERS Noire. I am considering to back it about as much as I am considering backing PunkApocalyptic. The newest game by the creator of Shadows of the Demon Lord as a cool, punkrock take on the Apocalyptic genre and is, as stated, quite tempting. If you like your alternative reality less punk like and less apocalyptic, maybe take a look at the fantasy system offered by Gaval Tales.
Back to the apocalypse, there’s Libreté. The games is a continuitation of the French game Perdu sous la Pluie (Lost under the Rain), and one does play lost childred. The system is a unique take on the Powered by the Apocalypse system and I do feel enticed. Another PbtA game, yet without the apocalypse, is Root. Based on the board game by the same name gamers will play little mice and other animals who brave adventures. Under Hollow Hills by Meguey and Vincent Baker isn’t particularly dark either as it focusses it’s setting on a traveling circus aiming, from what I feel, to be accessible by younger players.
Then there are quite some d10 based games. Like Deviant: The Renegades, the newest gameline by Onyx Path to be added to the Chronicles of Darkness. The players play creatures or people who’ve been created to fight the various supernatural forces of the CofD, yet turned on their creators. Which is more interesting than I gave the first pitches credit for. Scouts of the Wyrdwood Forest on the other hand is a rather colorful game, in which the players try to explore some mystical woods. Where as Era: Forbidden focuses on the conflict between Angels and Demons using the solid game engine of other Era-games. Last but not least SLA Industries will get a second edition in which players have to deal with a futuristic yet dystopian city and its strange inhabitants.
Next to those cool games, which really put me under the agony of choice, there are plenty more, fascinating, worthwile projects. Just take a look:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #120, including every tabletop rpg project started between 09/22 and 10/07.

Following a small break, I return to present no fewer than 14 English RPGs and a whole bunch of Spanish and French ones.
To start the list I’d like to direct you to Little Monster Detectives by Nosolorol. The project funds the translation of the Spanish games that is made for kids and with kids in mind. If you like to have a in-depth look at how it works, I highly suggest checking out the review at the GMS Magazine YouTube channel by Paco Jean. If I had children, I would have backed the game enthusiastically. Back to an older demographic, the vs. KICKSTARTER 2 projects does attempt to fund three micro games at one. You’ll have the choice between post-apocalyptic action, killing Hitler or fighting in mechs, which sounds like a fun mix. The Charm Universal RPG does offer more to read, yet it keeps the character sheet down to the size of a business card, has a universal approach and looks quite cool and colorful. Ross Rifles does contrast it by putting the player characters in the trenches of a war, fitting them with a Powered by the Apocalypse to survive (or not?). If you consider that to be a bit heavy, maybe take a look at Drinking Quest: Old Habits and combine gaming with drinking (responsible tho, imho).
Which does offer a nice transfer into the Fantasy Genre. For this you’ll find the Savage Worlds based Gods and Masters on the one hand. It offers urban guerrilla fights mixed into the fantasy stuff. Which I find a bit dazzling but not as dazzling as electric powered steam-tech that’s provided with Nuadan Chronicles on the other hand.
Less confusing and more cool you might like to checkout Haunted West for an entry into the Weird West genre. Chris Spivey, who previously gave me the splendid Harlem Unbound sourcebook, explores the weird west from the perspective of people that tend to get the short stick in the Genre. Given that I liked his previous work am genuinely tempted. Another interesting project in regards of weird alternative history is Agon, which offers you heroic stories in a mythic world – which I take to be a take on ancient Greece. It’s designed by John Harper (Blades in the Dark) and published by Evil Hat, thus well worth having a look.
From fantasy to science fiction RECLAIMER sparked my interest. Befitting to current political challenges it addresses a climate crisis in the future and an eco-insurgence that aims to battle it. The game looks great and uses the tested system of Cryptomancer, thus am tempted. If you are more interested in a space punk take on the SF genre, check out. Dark Stars and it’s d100 system to go of on adventures.
Seekers Beyond The Shroud is a solo-rpg and has the player explore the literal occult underground, braving various dangers. It looks great, is right in my ball park and the project in this list that has me tempted the most. Though there’s more urban fantasy like Visigoths vs. Mall Goths. With the Visigoths looking like Visigoths had a crash into Visual Key while being dragged through the 80s. I have neither a connection to Visigoths nor to Mall Goths, though if you do, take a look! Last but not least there’s Night Shift. The Urban Fantasy game uses the O.G.R.E.S system by Elf Lair Games that apparently is OGL inspired. You might play stuff like Buffy, Charmed or an Urban Fantasy setting of your own device. For which the game provides interesting classes, various playstyles and mechanics. It’s well worth having a look.
There are many more cool projects. Like the gamebooks Destiny’s Role 1 or Escape from Darkmoor Keep. The marvelously sparkling 2020 Glitter Dice and many more, just take a look:

A brief word, before the list. Sadly currently the evidence is suggesting that Kickstarter might have fired two of its workers for trying to form a union (Kickstarter accused of union-busting after firing workers). Kickstarter does in general oppose Unions, will do anything against them and spreads the usual company propaganda against them (Kickstarter To Workers and Project Creators: Drop Dead).
I personally think that shitty and sucks. It did effectively dampened my enthusiasm for backing stuff on their platform. Well, that and doing my bookkeeping. It ain’t meant as a call for boycott, cause in the end it hits the creators, more something that happend, that’s of relevance and maybe worth knowing/considering.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #121, including every tabletop rpg project started between 10/07 and 10/13.

This week I discovered and am very enthusiastic about Moth Children, A Vampire TTRPG created by Dane Asmund. I am really intruiged by the idea to combine moth, and their mythological background, with the creation and existence of vampires and thus genuinely curious with and fascinated by the setting. It’s, at least for me, a excitingly novel approach to vampires and addition to the genre. The mechanics is based on two wheels – one the ST have and one each player has – which I consider interesting. The playtest of the game offers insight in what it will become and I trust the creator based on previous projects. I do highly recommend that you take a look at the project and back it.
Another project I backed and recommend is Doikayt: A Jewish TTRPG Anthology. It offers a collection of short tabletop roleplaying games about Judaism or Jewish themes, written and illustrated by Jews. From what I’ve seen currently the anthology includes about ten games offering quite a variety in topic. I do recommend that you take a look and backed it myself as it ready very enticing.
If you are more interested in historical fantasy, you should take a look at Wolves of God. The game uses England during the Dark Ages setting and the system of Stars without Numbers for the game mechanics, being quite close to B/X.
For more fantasy you might take a look at Advanced Fantasy, a d100 based system that has been created with love for complex and challenging games in mind. Then there’s Warden’s Game. The project does offer rather little information in regards to setting or system yet appears to be a labour of love.
The gamebook in this collection Destiny Dez, Drum of Destiny, is being created with very young children in mind, and offers an entry to role-playing games.
Then, if your interested in Larps, you might like to try Twain. A small larp for one player. Which I find a quite curious concept.
There are other quite interesting projects, like the Fantasy World Creator, which allows to easily create maps and tiles for D&D anbd other games. There are adventures aimed at the whole family and kids like Big Book of Amazing Tales and The Legend of Gimcrack Jack. Well or dice accessoire like the Dice Crypt or the Unity Dice Necklace. I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #122, including every tabletop rpg project started between 10/13 and 10/30.

Following quite a break, as I enjoyed PDXcon and SPIEL, I am back at an unusual weekday. The collection covers 17 days, which has seen quite some projects started and other closed. For 7 projects I’ve been to late, you’ll find them at the end of this post. Thus, to lose no more, let’s start.

Voidheart is essentially a Urban Fantasy game. You play mundane human beings who discover that there is more to the world than they knew and have to fight back against a variety of creatures. Jay Iles describe it as being about a psychic rebellion and compares it to works like Psychonauts, Persona 5 and Inception. The PbtA games overs a quickstart and I suggest you take a look. The Ruin has a quickstart as well. Though it’s rather based on D&D 5E and offers a post-apocalyptic setting to explore and survive. I do quite like the illustrations. Which is as well a cool aspect of Renascentia. The originally Italian game takes the peninsula as a setting and enriches it with magic and enchantments apparently set in what I would call „somewhat medieval to renaissance“ times. With Arcana Academy you’ll find a PbtA game that aims to over the experience of attending Hogwarts (Harry Potter) or Brakebills (Magicians), apparently taking a lighter take on the latter.
If you are yearning for Fantasy, take a look at Era: Lost Legend. The game is the newest addition to the Era-system family and aims to provide a Final Fantasy style gaming experience; take a look. Against the Darkmaster does offer classical fantasy sagas and by it’s own claims „heavy metal combat“. Which it does provide by a simple d100 system and the illustration, save from the opulent thumbnail, look OSR-style to me. If you prefer your fantasy D&D 5E style, just take a look at The Dark Forest.
If you are looking for an interesting take on survival horror, take a look at Survival of the Able. You’ll be playing people with disabilities during the medieval times in western Europe and next to the normal ailments of the era there are zombies too! It does use a custom tailored version of fudge as its system. While I likely won’t back it, it’s an interesting idea and I recommend having a look. You’ll find another horror RPG in All is Madness. The characters have to confront their fears or die. While the project doesn’t say a lot about it’s system, $10 isn’t that expensive and it might be worth having a look – a rather quick one as it has only hours left on its clock.
If you prefer Science Fiction, you might like to check out Space Kings. The card based game invites improvisation to have your characters and crews stand up to the government. Spaced does offer a more classic approach with a d100 system and its developers experience Delve. You’ll be crashing with your space ship and got to explore your crash site. If you like detailed, original settings, check out Swords and Spaceships. The project doesn’t talk that much about the system, but looks nice and talks a lot about its setting.
Western are basically Science Fiction in historical, at least some SF. With Devil’s Staircase you can take your dusty cowboy boots on and engage in the wild west. It is a diceless rules-light game and the InDemand phase will only last for like 2 more days. If you like your West with Elves, Orcs and other fantasy creatures, check out Gaval Tales. It has them all and uses d8 and d12 at least.
If you fancy game books, you’ll find a quite traditional one with The Necronomicon Gamebook – Carcosa. Pitch Black is more unconventional, by basically being an audio based gamebook. Well, and Spire’s End does approach the gamebook theme with cards. Plus it is the one that tempts me most.
Matt Colvilles sourcebook Kingdoms, Warfare & More Minis! got me to actually back it, as I like the topic and are curious about his take. There are, of course, many more very interesting, cool projects, just check the collection:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #123, including every tabletop rpg project started between 10/30 and 11/03.

Despite the last collection been just 4 days ago, you’ll find that there are 22 projects included in this. As for the next, it might get delayed for three weeks, or a bit more, since I will take a trip to The Night in Question – which effectively will take two weekends as I’ll again take a small US vacation.

First of all, I’d like to direct your attention towards the German translation of Lovecraftesque. If you like to support the game line abroad, if you do speak German, take a look. The publisher is new, I do think reliable, and needs some more support.
In regards of English language projects, there’s the Dark V01D Science Fiction ttrpg. A project from Germany that is presented and offered in English. The SF setting is visibly inspired by the 80s and the system developed of from The Dark Eye. Though the creator chose a more narrative approach with just keeping the combat practical. It should be worth having a look. Then there is Mystic Lilies, a card based game, which focussed on the dramatic conflict among witches and dark arts. The author referes Monsterhearts, Touhou Project, Bayonetta and Madoka Magica as points of references. While I don’t consider Bayonetta as dramatic – imho it’s more like „Fucking stylish, in your FACE Fucker! BOW BOW BOW“-drama than eny of the other – I find my self really intruiged by the concept presented and recommend having a look. Then there’s Moonpunk, a PbtA game, in which you play different kinds of punks rebelling on the moon. The game comes in the form of a punk-zine and does look interesting.
Then there are two Larps, Hi-Ho! aims to offers a fun single-player Larp. Though going by the video it can be played with oneself and a quite literal socketpuppet. A nice, rather inexpensive, idea that might be worth having a look at. System 7 offers a sytem, from the looks card based, for Larps and ttrpgs, with the opportunity to simulate any genre from fantasy to vampires. Which does make it interesting.
Then you’ll find Leopard Women of Venus for DCC among the settings. As the name indicates it revels in a Golden Age comic book approach and has women riding through space on dragon-crocodiles while shooting fire/lasers from their helmets. Which lookes like ridiculously absurd fun. Just take a look. I personally, for now, pledged for the Super Blood Harvest adventure. It’s a collection of actually three modules, I guess setting up on a supposed OSR rule set, yet very stylish and with vampires. Well, and if I had a 3D printer I might have pledged for the very cool looking Draconic Dice Crypts STL files.
There are many more interesting, cool and fun projects, just take a look:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #124, including every tabletop rpg project started between 11/03 and 11/24.

As I had to take a two weeks vacation brake, the collection has about 90 projects, so let’s get to them.

If you are interested in original German tabletop rpgs, you might like to have a look at Milan. Well, and if you like some maps, you might like to checkout Jannasaras Kartentasche.

Back to the English projects, I’d like to start with Electric Bastionland. The game from the creator of Into the Odd presents a fascinating setting, in which one plays a character that failed badly and is in debt – basically being the perfect person to go onto adventures to solve their problems. I would guess that the system is rather lite, OSR inspired and am tempted to back it. Then there’s Res Obscura a steampunk fantasy rpg set during the Victorian age. The project doesn’t talk alot about its system, though its being translated from Italian. If we move somewhat ahead in time, we’ll come to Lightning War. It’s set during World War II, yet has fantasy creatures included. Well, and systemwise it takes inspiration from Skirmish games. If you prefer your fantasy more classic, without real history spice, check out Quest. Which offers quite some expose on its d20 mechanics. If your looking for a narrative game, check out One More Thing. It’s a two player game, in which a criminal case is solved. Putting the emphazise square on the „how“ and not the „if“-which is a given. Then there’s Charm. Offering a universal game fit to play every kind of character in any Genre. It does look charming indeed.
The Curse of the House of Rookwood offers an intruiging Gothic Horror role-playing game. It sees the players playing characters within a family, where everyone has things to hide and skeletons in the closed – maybe even literal. I am enticed by the setting, the focus on family and generational play and couldn’t resist it. I do recommend having a look. Vaesen offers another take on the Gothic Horror genre. It uses nordic mythologie as the bases for its setting, yet diverges from the common stuff I knew beforehand, making it a fresh take. The ruleset is an adapted version of the Tales of the Loop one. I do recommend having a look at it.
VIGOR: Into the Dust is a game for those who prefer post-apocalyptic settings, which aren’t nighlistic and drab. Yet Vigors setting gives me a Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and the system is character forward and focused on survival and getting the community to thrive. Which has me considering backing it. The Ruin on the other hand offers a more classical post-apocalypse, focusing on survival horror. It does use a D&D 5E inspired system, which you can checkout by their quickstart. Thus, take a look. Then there’s Aftermath, which has an apocalyptic setting, yet a rather sparse description. If you want to get more information on it, check the video.
Then there are quite some Urban Fantasy games, like Of Dreams and Magic 2nd Edition: The Waking World. The concept of a world, overlayered by a dream world. Which does look fascinating and reminds me a bit of Invisible Sun, just more accessible. I recommend having a look at it. Then there is Onyx Path, granting Mummy: The Curse a 2nd edition. In this Chronicles of Darkness game you assume the role of an eternal, timeless Mummy which is effectively immortal and possesses a cult. You can take a look at the manuscript of the book once you backed and I recommend having a look. Another good call would be backing the City of Mist: Starterbox. It offers you everything to play the cool mix of the PbtA and Fate system to play essentially urban fantasy coded superheroes. Though, if you rather like to play Power Rangers, Sailor Moon Warriors or similar teams check out If Not Us, Then Who?. It uses an interesting card based system.
Vampire: the Masquerade – Blood Feud is a „Mega Board Game“ and thus unites aspects of role-playing games, card games and a mega game. The game is made for 4 up to 32 players, which have four different station to vie for controll of the city. I do think that the idea is very cool, the miniatures are plently and nice and the box is neatly fit. I backed it and would like to recommend it very highly! Especially as it has only hours, under three days, left.
The Wishing Sigil is on the clock as well. Basically you’ll get a story prompt for every advent day, and thus basically solo-play a little campaign. I think it’s a cool idea and close enough to role-playing. Have a look and form your own mind.
There are many more, cool projects. You can participate in the Patreon from DavidTvGames and help him develop gaming resources, you might be interesting in backing the sourcebook The Islands of Sina which is inspired by Philipine myths, well or fall for the fascinating, glittering Dispel Dice – which almost got me, maybe build a tower with TURRIM Dice or keep track of your game with the Spin Dice and Gaming Gizmos counters. There is fascinating stuff like the Tome Tote, which doubles as book cover and dice tray and very cool Deckboxes that I actually backed.
There are many, many more very interesting projects, well worth having a look, just see for yourself:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #125, including every tabletop rpg project started between 11/24 and 12/15.

After I attended Dragonmeet and been to a work related training, I am back with about 40 projects. Sadly, thanks to the timespan, some projects closed before I could report on them and some are quite close to finishing, thus, let’s get to it.

The Children of Eriu is a new game placed in the setting of Fate of the Norns. It offers a very celtic setting and a very cool fitting tarot deck. Next to a very rich background, stunning illustrations it has an interesting and tested system, which is based on drawing rune stones. The creator Andrew Valkauskas is experienced with delivering projects and I do recommend it highly. If you are looking for a game fitting for the upcoming holidays, that includes the Krampus, take a look at ‚TWAS – The Roleplaying Game Before Christmas. It offers a rules-light system, which you use to play sentinent toys that are out to rescue Santa. The game is done by Jonathan Green and based on the game book by the same name, the idea is neat and the presentation interesting. I do recommend to check it out. If you’ll like something more futuristic, take a look at Retropunk, which is a cyberpunk game that has a system inspired a bit by PbtA and more by Blades in the Dark. I like the idea and am actually quite very tempted. Then there’s Hardboot, a D&D 5E game, where you’ll play videogame characters who gotta fight. The project doesn’t appear convincing to me and I do would advice caution.
There are plently of other project. For example I am considering the Memento Mori / Memento Vivere campaign, which might have a small rules-light system to fit. There are beautiful dice like the Solid Brass Rainbow Serpentine Dice by Polyhydra or those from the LUMO project.
There are many cool projects that you should check out, just have a look:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #126, including every tabletop rpg project started between 12/16 and 12/22.

Right before (or in) the Holidays this collection still contains 16 projects, one of which is my clear favorite.

Cults of the Blood Gods offers an essential sourcebook for the 5th edition of Vampire: The Masquerade (V5) and proves that Onyx Path can start und successfully fund a project during the holidays. The books offers all rules and fluff needed to play my favorite Clan the Giovanni, along with other clans and bloodlines like the Cappadocians, Samedi, Nagaraja, Harbinger of Skulls and basically everyone necromantically inclined. Including a new, unifying title of „The Hecata“ – though one can always play a splinter group that insist on their original identity..
Next to those clans the book offers everything one might need to know about cults and religions in the context of the V5. You’ll get existing groups like the Church of Caine, Bahari, Nephilim, Church of Set, Cult of Mithras and many more. If you want to do something of your own device, you’ll get a toolbox to create your own cult.
The book will provide a campaign set in and around Munich (Germany), a kin to the campaigns offered in Chicago. Plus more scenarios ready to be played in a companion PDF.
There is more and for me it’s an absolute „must back“, a project which I recommend wholeheartidly and with passion. The potentially most important book next to the V5 core. Take a look, back it. If you are abroad, the shipping costs have dropped more than half of previous OPPs projects. If your budget suffered from the Holidays, it’s up till the 18th of January. Do it, back it! ;)
Another imho cool project is the Tabletops and Tentacles magazine. It offers adventures, a Print & Play game, NPCs, interviews, and more material on like 140+ pages. It looks great and I recommend having a look.
Then there is the one-shot adventure Legends of Novus Adventures: Kzmatic’s Keep. It looks stunning and pitches the PCs against a megalomaniac Lich who is in need of defeating. It’s a bit short, yet cool. Take a look.
If you like some dice to go along with it, take a look at the silver Dragon’s Hoard Dice or the nicely Dragon Themed Polyhedral dice set. If you like some digital tool to build your adventures, well take a look at Dungeon & Quest Generator. It looks nice and useful.
I personally do feel tempted to back the Spanish translation of Tenra Bansho Zero from Japanese. I got an English edition, yet I want to improve my Spanish and hope that they do include the „rules for mass combat“ that are cut from the English edition and await being made available in a separate PDF. I am mostly kept away, by not being sure if they deliver to Germany and how much it will cost.
There are, of course, more projects next to the ones I mentioned. Just see for yourself:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #127, including every tabletop rpg project started between 12/22 and 12/29.

In the final Collection, that will conclude 2019, you’ll only find six projects. Given the small number, I’ll introduce each of them briefly..

Destiny Aurora is a Starfinder based sourcebook or companion book. It expands the Starfinder universe with the setting from the comic book of the same name. Providing players with new races, various faction to align to or alienate, the option to shape your crew, ship and reputation in the univers while braving various adventures. The setting appears quite interesting, colorful and I recommend having a look. Then there is the stadalone game ADVANCED FANTASY ROLE-PLAYING, which offers a very classic, complex gaming experience. It appears to have been created with quite some love, though not my kind of game.
If you faced the problem that your convention badged ruined a table, you might like to take a look at the Game Convention Lanyard Stabilizer. A clip that helps with freely swinging badges. Then there are the Game Mash Chipboard Monster Tokens, which offer precisely what the name says. Tokens to use during games.
If you speak or understand Spanish you might like to take a look at Vendha. The first book of a three part Spanish book series. If you like to have a key chain that combines Alpacas and gaming, you might like to check out the French project Les alporte clés du rôliste.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #128, including every tabletop rpg project started between 12/29 and 01/05.

The new year starts with about 18 projects, let’s get to ‚em.

Last Fleet RPG is a Powered by the Apocalypse games that offers a science fiction setting that appears to be focused on action. hinweisen. The playbooks are based on the (western) horoscope and considering that my sign (Taurus) fits about my kind of characters a 100 percent to the nail, I couldn’t resist! I supported other projects by the creators like Bite Marks and do consider them trustworthy. Take a look at it. The there is Casting the Runes is based on the Gumshoe system which approaches the story by M.R. James and offers investigations of ghostly apperitions and other supernatural mysteries. Set in the Eduardian era I consider the take on horror a quite refreshing change from the lovecraftian standard and recommend checking the project. Home offers a science fantasy setting that pitches humanity against mutated animals. Sadly, the project is a bit scant on informations.
In regards to other projects, Denoa offers a colorful and interesting looking setting for D&D 5E. If you are more looking for D&D 5E adventures, A System-Neutral TTRPG Adventure offers you the opportunity to add some personal input, The Folio: Black Label #3 impresses with opulent graphics and maps and if you want some lovecraftesque horror, you should look at A One-shot Mystery Adventure. If you are more on the lookout for a container for your cards, you might like to check out the Custom Wooden Card Game Deck Boxes – they look create.
There are more cool projects. As usual, you’ll find them here::

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #129, including every tabletop rpg project started between 01/05 and 01/12.

Liberté started its second, this time round likely successful, attempt at funding the translation of the French PbtA game. The game focusses on essentially lost children in a world devoid of adults under a constant rain. The setting is quite interesting, it looks cool and I recommend having a look at it. Have I had more money, I’d back it. If you would prefer a low fantasy game, check out The Hero’s Journal. It orients itself at the classic of the genre, looks nice and combines an OSR system with modern elements. Then there’s Glitch, which I too would describe as fantasy. You’ll play gods who went full amageddon on the world and then noticed it was a flawed action. Now they got to do some investigative stuff and fix things. The setting approach is quite unique and the system is interesting. I’ll be having a closer look at it later. Though, if your like your fantasy steamy, err steampunk, take a look at Mighty Tiny: Tales of the Old Empires. The game is based on the comics of Ben Dunn and offers a setting and system that’s compatible with Savage Worlds and D&D 5E. Last but not least take a look at the Hexagon system. I do actually like the idea of putting the rules on a bunch of character sheets, which looks great.
Then there are two gangster rpgs. There is Mafia Caporegime , offering a totally new game. The characters aim to claim the title of caporegime and thus upturn the local mob. Something which will be supported by their background. The game offers 7 character classes and an entry level adventure. I do would like to have had some more infos about the rules, and asked for them, yet did back it. I think it’s worth having a look. The twist of CAPERS RPG is that the players play superpowered gangsters during the prohibition. I already backed the card based system in a previous project, and do feel tempted to get this deluxe edition too.
If you rather have a good old, well new, game book, take a look at Ghost Ops – Operation Lone Wolf. Then there is the Dungeon Party hybrid rpg. Hybrid, because I didn’t really see the rpg aspect in what appears to be a straight fantasy themed social card game.
There are of course other cool projects like the Blood Floats in Space setting for the Mothership RPG, which caught my eyes with its interesting illustration. The sourcebook The Forgotten Rites of the Moldering Dead for DCC focuses on death, dying, rituals, the undead and more. Which is why I do strongly consider backing it. Another cool thing is the Fungi Fight for Freedom Adventure where you play mushroomy adventures who fight for their freedom. Well, and there a cool, little, handcrafted leather maps to be found in the MeepleCraft Mini Maps project.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #130, including every tabletop rpg project started between 01/12 and 01/19.

You’ll find that there are only 3 projects for full games been started since the last collection, yet there are still plenty cool projects.

First there is High Colonies, a hard SciFi game by the creators of HarnMaster. Humanity managed to finally and ultimately ruin earth and thus had to retreat into a few space stations – now called High Colonies. Effectively reducing the population to just a meager 20 million people. The players will explore space, the relations between the High Colonies and may direct the future of humanity. While I don’t exactly got a Hard Sci-Fi vive from the cover, more like 70s or 80s covers – though the setting sounds interesting.. Take a look. Then there is 2d6 Adventures which offers classical fantasy with a 2d6 system as mentioned in the title. Players apparently roll up their character, who’ll be described in 12 numbers, and may choose a class (one of 30) that fit them based on their results. Last but not least there is Strange Things Afoot, a Urban Horror role-playing game that incorporates creepypasta style stories. The player assume the role of teenagers, college students and try to fight supernatural creatures called tulpas. These tulpas need to be known and use the internet to spread the word, well and the net can be utilized to fight them. Sadly the project doesn’t talk about the system, but directs the interested player to DTRPG for further infos.
If you are more looking for a setting, take a look at the Very Pretty Paleozoic Pals: Permian Nations for the Troika RPG. There are fore sure not a lot of paleozoic settings and this one looks colorful, creative and fun – without being to stupid. If that’s to sweet for you, check out the Never Going Home Campaign Dossiers. Considering it offers scenarios, campaigns for cthulhoid horror during World War I. I got the core game, am tempted myself and do highly recommend it!
Then there are nice Dragon Scale Dice made from metal. You can roll them behind the exquiste Fire Dragon Valhalla Screen by Dog Might Games and put them through the rad looking Wizard’s Tower by Hexwood instead of simply rolling them. If you are more looking for a calender that communicates your love for dice, check out the Make 100 Calendar Dice, you might find a fitting notebook in the Roverbook. There are other projects like the Arkanos Card Set or the Full-Color Custom Miniatures with Hero Forge 2.0 – a project that’s going through the roof.
There are many more projects, you find those and the other mentioned here:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #131, including every tabletop rpg project started between 1/19 and 01/26.

With 41 projects started in a week the crowdfunding year is back in full swing, thus let’s start.

2 Women | 12 Games by Elizabeth Chaipraditkul and Steffie de Vaan offers the titular dozen of games, which are already fully developed and will be collected into one book. The games cover a great range of fascinating topics and use rule light mechanics to up to bespoke rules. I couldn’t resist and backed it in a minute. I am as well enticed to back the Trophy RPG. First it offers a one-shot game about doomed trophy hunters. Second it offers a campaign game where the fate of the trophy hunters isn’t sealed from the get go. Last but not least it offers a really nifty setting book for the world the trophy hunters engage in. If you don’t like it as dark, maybe check out Age of Ambition. The setting at the verge from fantasy towards maybe something like the industrial age seems new and interesting. In regards of mechanices it uses the Saga Machine engine and offers lifepath based character creation. World of Ere might be your cup of tea if you like a nice steampunk game based on the OGL licence. I think it looks nice.
If you like your game with a lot of technical integration, take a look at Knuckledragger. The concept looks interesting, apparently offering something like its own Roll20 platform – though it’s a bit to technical for me. Legendaria 2020 on the otherhand provides a nice mixture between ttrpg and a more classical card- or boardgame.
I’d rather like to express a stern warning regarding Mafia Caporegime. The IndieGoGo campaign runs parallel to a doomed Kickstarter, the creator doesn’t communicate and given that the IndieGoGo campaign will take your money directly… I am doubtful that you’ll see a game for it. After noticing the IndieGoGo thing I backed out of the Kickstarter.
There are of course plenty more cool projects like the gamebook Steam Highwayman III. If you are a fan of GURPS, take a look at the sourcebook Dungeon Fantasy Companion 2. Take it fast, because it will end in just a few hours. There are cool projects like Doom on the Warden for Metamorphis Alpha or Outpost 42 for Stars Without Numbers and many, many more cool adventures.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #132 – Part 1 of 2, including every tabletop rpg project started between 01/26 and 02/02.

February introduces the Zine Quest 2 Kickstarter event, which follows a very productive week in regards to projects started. Thus there are a total of 79 projects, about 26 offering new games. To make it a bit more accessible, I decided to split the collection.
Do take a look at part 2!

I will start by focusing on the „normal“ projects.
Cowebs will be a game by Exalted Funerals, which offers a Neo Noir experience. Basically a game in the wake of FFO Limetown, Mind Mgmt and The X-Files. There are cases with a twist, which needed to be explored and revealed. It’s a gm-less game, that utilizes a fascinating looking „map“ and is played with 4d6 and 1d12. I recommend having a look. After ending its Kickstarter successfully Hexagon continues it with a IndieGoGo campaign. I would take a look, though flexible funding and to many other projects are keeping me away.
One of the many other cool projects is The Elephant & Macaw Banner Role-Playing Game. Based on the novel by the same name it offers a uniquely Brazilian setting. I like the description, illustrations and am very tempted to back it. Especially with Tom McGreney having proven to be a reliable creator. Red Rook Revolt! is another fantasy game that caught my eye. The players assume the role of revolutionaries fighting against an imperial power. I am quite fascinated that the game addresses aspects like different views on families and on the working of the comunes. The system is mostly a bespoke one. Another cool project, well and a patreon, is The Chronicles of Ember. Which aims to essentially provide a Dark Souls experience. Like, not so much the mechanics, but the setting. The system it self apparently offers like 4 classes and a lot of skills. Just take a look. If you want your fantasy more classical, take a look at Swords and Wizardry. Which is like super classic fantasy with an OSR like system. Mostly offering a ultimate collectors edition. Grab it if you like it. I do consider Pride of Giants quite cool, with the giant bee-monster an all. System-wise it’s d20 with tons of skills. Offering a delicious crunchy meal. Last but not least you’ll find the Venture & Dungeon fantasy games. Yeah, games. Two at once. With a PbtA-like system. Focused on belonging. Which is quite interesting.
You might be looking for a more universal system. Era d10 Fundamentals is a hack for the Era games and offers you the opportunity to build your own with the system. Just take a look. Another universal game is GMD Core RPG, which looks nice.
There are two games combining various game styles. Blastback: Sci-Fi Superhero Escape Horror RPS combines Escape games and tabletop rpg for an Urban Fantasy game. Then there’s. Band Battle Royale, which mixes up role-playing with card games to make the players band famous.
Considering there’s Choose Cthulhu 2, All for Anvil and Alice’s Nightmare in Wonderland you might basically roll around in game books. Where I like to give a shoutout towards Alice’s Nightmare in Wonderland, as I enjoyed the original project.
There are a lot of cool projects, like the Dice for All – even as they are imho to pricey -, the transparent dice, stuff like the Simple Spell Tracker and many projects more.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #132 – Part 2 of 2, including every tabletop rpg project started between 01/26 and 02/02.

February introduces the Zine Quest 2 Kickstarter event, which follows a very productive week in regards to projects started. Thus there are a total of 79 projects, about 26 offering new games. To make it a bit more accessible, I decided to split the collection.
Do take a look at part 1!

In this part I will focus on all the many Zine projects.
Rain on a Conga Drum shows that something as small as a zine can contain not one, not two but three games! The games are all inspired by the musician Van Zandt, who appears to be a country singer or well songwriter. The approach intruiges me and I feel tempted. In Beak, Feather, & Bone the player play crow like creatures and essentially build a world or rather map, including notations. The illustrations look cool and the approach to make world-building fun sounds enticing. Though, you might be looking for a solo game experience, in which case, take a look at the The Artefact. The game has you creating an artifact and see where it goes and what is done with it..
Palanquin is more a traditional fantasy game. The player character happens to be the heir to a dynasty, when a coupe happens and puts them in danger as well as sees them fleeing. Basically like Ciri in The Witcher (I imagine). I do trust Jason Pitre, the designer, and ton and might back it. Then there’s BUTCHERY, where the characters have to face monsters that were created by the actions of humans and restore harmony in nature. I think of it as maybe being a bit like Werewolf The Apocalypse. Without the bloat or shapeshangers. The setting is described as licorice fantasy (dark, bitter but not all tears and misery), which is quite a unique description (I like salty licorice). I might back it and recommend having a look at the game. With Corsairs you’ll get more lofty, airborn fantasy. Sailing around in flying ships with floating islands. Which sounds nicte. Well, and then there’s No Stone Unturned. Where you may explore a fantasy world and build a homebase. With the option to peak into the system via the SRD. Rarely did I like that many „normal“ fantasy game.
If you rather play a mundane band, checkout ROCK & ROLL. With Rock’n’Roll being something that might provide a good soundtrack to some Derby Drama. Both games do look solid.
Though maybe you like your mundane and urban game with some fantasy A Touch of Glamour has you covered with playing fae creatures. Alternatively you might descend into a the Green Dawn Mall to get one of your pals out of the maze. Well or you’re a gay dishwasher, greeter in the Dish Pit Witches. Which sounds like a quite unique idea.
There’s the option that you prefer science fiction. Where I would recommend to you having a look at Moonsailors. Traversing space, making discovery… the game focuses on the solitary experience and the connectivness, being accessible for groups of 3 to 5 players. Then there’s VALOR KNIGHTS: THE ELECTROCUBE WAR which looks more like fun cartoon syfy, Which is a nice change.
There are plenty more cool zines. Settings like Willow, supplements like On the Shoulders of Colossus or Dead Halt – Happy New Year 1999 as well as adventures like Sinister Red (full of vampires).

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #133 – Part 1 of 3, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/02 and 02/09 up till 8pm.

The collection is a bit delayed, because I am currently dealing with some personal stuff and because of the massive amount of projects – that’s 44 full games! Next to that, to make it a bit digestible, I split the collection into three parts:
Crowdfunding Collection #133 – Part 2 of 3 – Zine Quest
Crowdfunding Collection #133 – Part 3 of 3 – Zine Quest

I’d like to start with the Blacksad role-playing game by Nosolorol. They did release the original Spanish version of the game based on the popular comic series, and aim now to finance the English translation. For those who don’t know the comics, they offer a neo-noir setting in which anthropomorphic animals populate cities and a cat detective. The game uses a fast, simple d6 system and, well, I marked it. If you’d rather play humans, and would like to play people who go after the various supernatural plagues of urban cities, you should take a look at the second edition of Hunter: The Vigil. The Chronicles of Darkness game enables you to play various tiers of hunters, from two wayward brothers up to whole organisations. Onyx Path Publishing is a very reliable creator and I do recommend it. Then there’s Deviant Evolution, which isn’t about the new deviants that Onyx Path will present. Instead it’s places its deviants in the future where they’ll have to venture out and explore. The game uses the Prometheus system, which can be previewed in a lite version on DTRPG.
Then there is Altered Carbon by Hunters Books. The cyberpunk game is based on the Netflix and book series by the same name. People can switch their bodies (sleeved) as they like, or rather as they can afford. The setting is very cool – I liked the show – and the system doesn’t seem to be to bad. Plus, the publisher will be creating the 5th edition of Werewolf the Apocalypse. Which puts me from „interested“ to „backer“ – take look. Omega Horizon is another take on the cyberpunk genre, which adds piloted mechs. I like the idea, the system sound solid enough, though I couldn’t spare the cash.
A project I do honestly love and champion hard is Vampire: The Masquerade – CHAPTERS. The game is a mixture of a roleplaying game and dungeon crawler boardgame with way more social aspects. Basically a „gamebook boardgame“. I met it at SPIEL 2019 and loved it so much that I started supporting it on the spot. The game mechanics are simple, accessible and fun. I usually don’t give a rats ass about miniatures, but the 40mm ones are very beautiful. The game material, alas only preview one, was very cool. If you want to try it yourself, check out the two free online preludes on TableTopia – they showcase the basic mechanics. Then there are lot of miniatures – Vampires! Werewolf! Ananasi (Werspider)! Bloodlines 2 character and many more -, coins, dice bags and not to expansive V5 metal dice (15 dice for ~38$).
I am in, twice! Check it out!
There are cool other ttrpg related projctes to. For example the Decuma deck of cards. Which offer really nice cards to R&D settings and campaigns. I couldn’t resist. Though I did manage my willpower roll on Coins of the Tarot. The coins look cool, but my budget says „nope“. There are cool dice projects like The vintage bone dice and if you like PFRPG you might like to checkout the video game Wrath of the Righteous. There is a nice Spanish notebook with Cuadernos & Dungeons and the French game Aria looks very, very cool.

The collection is a bit delayed, because I am currently dealing with some personal stuff and because of the massive amount of projects – that’s 44 full games! Next to that, to make it a bit digestible, I split the collection into three parts:
Crowdfunding Collection #133 – Part 1 of 3
Crowdfunding Collection #133 – Part 3 of 3 – Zine Quest

Memoria is a game about the (long) stories and histories of characters, which are explored at a similar scale as Microscope develops settings. It’s not a game that is wholly new for the zine quest, but rather a polish of an existing one – and I couldn’t resist. An Imminent Spark offers an even bigger rame. As custodians of a dying world you’ll oversee the last moments of the old which will spark into a new world. Which isn’t much of a relieve for all those people and creatures that will die and be lost. Back to the small scale, the diceless Nova Commonwealth has you research magic-technic stuff. With the whole little game being basically a small glimpse at a larger system that will be created later. Then there’s Lost Ruins, in which you play climate migrantes in a long forgotten time in a fantasy world. The system is inspired by games like A Quite Year and Legacy Life Among Ruins. It utilizes a d6 and aims to be modular. I am very tempted to back it. If you rather play a city, take a look at Procession. Where you assume the role of a city or town that has to deal with monsters and other creatures in creative ways. Despite the illustrations of Wendel Dietterlin I do associate it somewhat with the Netflix show Hilda – which I like.
In take root you’ll be venturing into a dungeon and return to your village to do normal „life“ stuff, like farming dating and such. Basically I’d call it „Dungeons & Stardew Valley“, a quite interesting thought. If you are more up for hitting monsters, check out Abstract Dungeon, it looks quite traditional.
Well, in traditional dungeons characters die, and if they do you might like to pull out CANDLELIGHT. The one-shot game and supplement to Trophy enables you to play fresh spirits in a one-shot session. A nice idea. Why are the characters dead? Maybe They Cried Monster? In this game you may freely decide if you want to help the humans or „people“ to murder a monstrous thread or if you maybe want to team up with the „monster“ as maybe the people are more monstrous. Another very cool idea. You might like to directly play little dragons in Shortlived Shenanigans and venture onto adventures. Well, and if you like it bigger, not big, maybe check out Snomes. Snow gnomes, which got to brave adventures of their own.
Back to reality, you might try out to form your – very real – body with LIFTS and the Powered by the Apokalypse system. If you don’t want to move that much, but rather play with bad camping trips, take a look at Campfire Memories, a game that’s Powered by the Apocalypse as well.
Maybe you rather be a knight. A fae knight in Ever In Her Sight. In this tarot based game you are tasked to bring back a treasure for your queen. A quest that will cost you. Then there’s Fax in Tenebris. A game that takes knights and their crusades and focusses on the challenges to their faith and the horror. It uses a PbtA inspired system, and at just 5$, which convinced me to back it.
You might like it with a more surreal touch, like is presented in Dream World Mercenaries. You’ll dive into the dreams of others, try not to get lost and to retrieve things. The concept is fascinating and given the topic at hand I think its good that it uses the X-Card prominently. Then there is Atrocity Archives, a project by Dane Asmund, which has you dive into the motivs of a mind and destruct this as well as the physical character sheet. Another fascinating idea and a project I do recommend. Maybe you only like to have your artworks surreal but more like a OSR-game system, in which case you should check out The Grizzle – which offers at least a very fascinating thumbnail illustration.
There are of course many zines that are not whole games but offer other contents. For example One of Us: Sideshow Salvation in a Dystopian Dustbowl offers a very cool setting for DCC. While Not Pretty But Wonderful promises to get creatives very drunk and publish the resulting interview. The Neronomizine offers eldritch horror for various games and Dungeons & Dilemmas quite some predicaments to place your players in. A Fine Mess offers a cool heist adventure and Zine-o-Map map.

Crowdfunding Collection #133 – Part 1 of 3
Crowdfunding Collection #133 – Part 2 of 3 – Zine Quest

Orchidelirium has the players set their characters in Victorian times and follow the behest of a shady employer to retrieve special, rare orchids, I do consider the setting,… excentric and the card mechanics interesting. Take a look. If you rather kick all those stiff aristocrats of the victorian age in their bourgoise backs, check out Casette Tape Riot Vol. 0. It places the characters in some alternate 90s, suggest to make a cool punk casette tape (well Spotify thing) and release your inner punk. Which Vanquisher might argue may not work out and focusses on heroes and their (tragic) fates. While it claims it can be played without pen and paper, I think both can help to remember stuff while using the 2d6 system. Fate hasn’t been nice to the characters of Twisted Rifters, as they are arcanely-deformed outsider, who have to try to save their home – a flying island – from its decay. The system is quite interesting as it uses elements of Blades in the Dark. Now, if you like it a bit less heavy, check out You are in a tavern. It is a gm-less game, where you meet and play in a tavern. It’s available in English and French.
Though you might be fan of apocalyptic settings. If you like AKIRA, you have to check out KISHU. You play as members of a juvenile bike gang, that has to navigate a climate apocalypse. The setting is cool, I like the anime, the system is Blades inspired. I am in! You might prefer your apocalypse more realistic (than climate?), well there is Sagas of the Sea Peoples. Which is based on the actual collapse in the bronze age and focuses on the titular „sea people“ – who are one of the rare hints on what might have went down. I think its very, very cool. You can checkout the system at DTRPG. Just take a look! Then there’s Mage Against the Machine, which is way more fantastical. You are a bunch of time travelling mages going back in time to fight the robo-apocalypse. It sounds like fun, and the gm-less system promises quite some freedom. FIGHT PLANET! has a way less complex setting. You are on a trash planet, and you gotta fight to survive. You might be part of a Battle Royal livecast, but that’s it. Sounds okay. Though I feel like I don’t share the creators view on Anarchism. ^^;
Let’s move onto the genre of heist games. The Great Soul Train Robbery offers a description of the game in its title. There is a train, headed to hell, with souls, and you gotta rob it. System wise it builds upon the Honey Heist game and you got like two stats. It does look like a cool, little weird west game that has actually been tested. Check it out. If you like to play more contemporary and varied heists, take a look at Score. The system sounds simple but interesting and I’d say it’s work a look.
If your looking for a fun little party game, maybe Let’s Make A Mary Sue! rocks your boat. The name says it all. You’ll be creating a Mary Sue. With some commentary on the term that I share. The system looks fun (a bit like MAID) and am tempted!
Fruit of Law is a rather contemplative game. While the group eats a pomegrenade, they will try to determine the rules and commandments of a future society. Basically acting as Rabbi with the game being based on a Jewish folk tale. I am fascinated by the game and backed it. Another, in my opinion very emotionally heavy game is the The Wait. It puts the characters in the position of having to wait for the soon and inevitable end of a persons life, with the players creating the life of the dying person. I am fascinated by the project, as well as interested, though the topic is out of my comfort zone. I still recommend checking it out!
You’ll might rather prefer some Science Fiction game. There is Celestial Bodies, Orbital Mechanics on the one hand. You’ll be playing a group having to flee from earth and are on a long way back through the solar system. It will see you explore the characters of, well your characters, and how earth has changed when you return. Then there’s King of Dust which combines a cyberpunk setting with some resource management. THE COMPANY RPG with its focus on „corporate survival horror“ might offer a lighter future setting. At least I couldn’t take it fully serious. Well, and The Good Ol‘ Days game offers monstrous horror fun in the style of 40s to 50s movies. Nice!
Then there are two games for people who like to play animals. Rats with Wings offers Micro-Games about pigeons. stuff added material to spells like „messenger pigeons“ and other stuff about pigeons. Gurruh, Gurruh, Gurruh! Who eats rats? Cats! Which includes Mew-tants! In which you play cats who got superpowers, but still no opposable thumbs. HA!
There are many other cool projects, like the cyberpunk city setting of Beneath the Glass and Steel or the Game Spice zines with mini-games to insert into rpgs. If you need NPCs you might check out PARIAH for outsider characters in OSR games, or check out The Beloved Underbelly for beekeepers, taxidermist or wild hogs. There are zines about deadly plants in a Deadly Garden and a lot about Centipedes!

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 1 of 3, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/09 and 02/19.

Following my operation this collection is a bit delayed, and thanks to the zine quest it totals more than 150 projects of whom more than 70 are actual games. Thus I decided to split the collection in three parts, the other two being:
Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 2 of 3 – Zine Quest
Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 3 of 3 – Zine Quest

First I’d like to point you to the cthulhuoid and mythos inspired game of DARK VOID. The English game originates in Germany and offers a quite fascinating Science Fiction setting. Including galaxy spanning drama between various alien races and a dash of Lovecrafts Mythos. The d20 based system looks solid and can be seen at in the preview document. I gladly offer a recommendation of the project. Another interesting, and somewhat more traditional take on HPLs Mythus is presented in Tiny Cthulhu. The well tested d6 system by Gallant Knight is applied to form a fun, little horror game well worth a look.
Speaking of the deep ones, games like Descent into Midnight let you dive into an intruiging aquatic setting. You’ll be assuming the form of various creatures that are poised to defend their communities and families. The Powered by the Apocalypse system gets utilized to create engaging threats and form a fascinating world. You can talk a look at it as they provide a quickstarter and despite me not being a fan of aquatic games, I feel quite tempted. Give it a shot. Maybe you prefer to play transhumanist mermaids in a post-apocalyptic setting? In this case Mermaids After the End has you covered. The game is based on a d12 setting and offers anime style illustrations.
Then there’s Linen Tapestry, which kinda falls into the realms of Urban(?) Fantasy. The characters are heroes in a world which is influenced by a „great cycle“ that interacts with three intervowen dimensions of existence. The description on their page sounds interesting and the d10 based Open Hand system solid. Then there’s another go to fund Soulbound. Which will provide your character with a randomly generated arcane weapon that’s bound to their soul – for better or worse. Embedded in a dark industrial fantasy worlds it doesn’t give of a lot of „edo vibes“ and the d6 system looks functional. I think it’s worth a look. Maybe you are more a fan of magical Ninjas – as portrayed in various anime – in which case Kunai Academy might be right up your ally.
I personally got seduced by Wampir: Maskarada gra fabularna – a project by Alis.Games to translate the 5th edition of Vampire: The Masquerade into Polish. Not that I speak Polish, though I did start to learn it, but the game offers a collection of 5 original V5 scenarios, an orginal V5 chronicle, original V5 music and more stuff. Plus, it’s done by the nice and competent people of the Vtes.Store. I love it, back it and recommend it – even more if you actually speak Polish.
There are more cool projects like the Modern: Necromancy | The Book Of The Dead, which presents me with a strong temptation to back it. If you are a fan of D&D 5E you’ll find many sourcebooks like Dragon Stew and a setting in Monte Cooks Ptolus – which is as well ready to be played with the Cypher system. Maybe you’re interested in soundscape like the Musicians of Ravensburg projects?

Following my operation this collection is a bit delayed, and thanks to the zine quest it totals more than 150 projects of whom more than 70 are actual games. Thus I decided to split the collection in three parts, the other two being:
Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 1 of 3
Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 3 of 3 – Zine Quest

The Zine Quest brought up an astounding amount of new, whole tabletop rpg games, thus lets get to them. The Dirt RPG offers a fantasy setting after an apocalypse with a quite interesting d6 system. The description is interesting and it looks are quite intruiging. You’ll find another kind of post-apocalypse in Snake People. I consider the narrative game quite interesting, despite the inherent strangeness of snakes. Well, and if you are fascinated by the mechanics of „snake eye“ rolls, the Snakeyes Gaming System has you covered.
Maybe you like to have a game in the style of the Westworld series, along with a dashing dose of the Great Gatsbys charme? I certainly do and did back The Gaslight Club, which is powered by a Blades in the Dark inspired system. If you prefer the series Love Boat, you’ll got to take a cruise with the The Love Ballon. A gm-less game thats basically steered cooperatively. Well, or you want to play a game of pranking people, in which Funny Freakout has been Forged in the Dark for you.
There is of course always the option for some Fantasy games. Like creating magical cities in i’m sorry did you say street magic – that’s create them and explore them. In your prefered genre, vignette or campaign style and without a GM. You don’t need a GM for ALL SKATE FANTASY either, but get normal heroic fantasy for „party people“. Which I take means that it is lighthearted. For a fun, fast game you should check out Dump Quest. Creating your game with some „ad-libbing“ fun and maybe destroying the zine in the process.
Horror? Would be the ad-libbed word that covers the next three games. If are enticed by the deep sea horror of William Hope Hodgsons Grey Seas Are Dreaming Of My Death should be right up your ally for a fatal oneshot. You might prefer to be a monster, as THEY FEED ON FEAR presents. Following the title you’ll have to instill fear in others to feed. Which is done with quite some style! Though I wouldn’t say DON’T LOOK. Which is a game in which characters actually have to have fear to survive. Though maxing the fear by looking at the stuff appears to be a bad idea.
I can’t say that Corruption of the Black-Hearted isn’t horror. As you play people who try to be heroes yet might just go one step to far and become monstrous. An interesting idea for an OSR game that I do consider a bit meta. Though Disk Horse#1: Off to the Races is definitively more meta’er. As you’ll be playing a PbtA style tabletop rpg game about creating tabletop rpgs. Which I find very difficult to kinda grasp. Well and the most meta-test game is In Our Own Wor(l)ds. Which addresses the fascination, creation and exchange of game zines as a zine. Yikes, quite a braintwist.
For the Honor is rather straight forward. Looks like She-Ra, got half of She-Ras slogan, colorful as She-Ra and saying it’s inspired by She-Ra. The gm-less game is right up my ally. As is Princess World which too takes inspiration from the She-Ra series and you’ll play cool & competent princesses.
If that’s to much color, maybe get back to the cold of space where noone hears you scream or chant like in INVOCCULTAS – Conduits of the Void. In which space cultist call upon the eldritch gods in a interestingly card based game. YourVerse on the other hand rather enables you to create your own science fiction setting while Terranary sees you struggling human, intergalactic intruiges for which it provides a d12 system. Maybe your more up for a solo experience, that might be played with others but doesn’t have to, in which case you should check out the Science Vessel of Dr. Uaerom.
Your character vessel of choice might be an animal. Where Winter Harvest offers you the role of animals who trying to build a home, community and live their lifes. It could be that last collections pigeon game didn’t fill your needs for the airborne raths where Dirty Town has you covered. Well, and from rats to rodents to vermin, you should check out Hivesworn: Queensfall if insects are your calling.
There is always the option to have some normal, nice Urban Fantasy. Where I would like to recommend Draculola with a passion! The game from Austria is addressed to kids – and those who feel like playing a lighthearted game – in which players assume the roles of vampires and other „monsters“. Just that the monsters ain’t evil but do try to make the world a better place. I personally grew up on tv series like „The little Vampire“ and love the genre, which had be back the project in a minute. It’s really cool and cute. Take a look. It’s a heartwarming game somewhat reminiscent of the likes of „Golden Sky Stories“. If you like more mundane Urban Fantasy directed towards older gamers, check out the Mundane Lost. Which combines the Stepford Wives with Outer Limits and a dash of Forbidden Zone to form an interesting small PbtA game set in a kinda 50s. Then there’s Heaven Has No Taste; And Other True Statements which will put you in the role of angles and demons on earth in romantical entanglements. Basically providing the plot of a standard CW-series.
Maybe you are more of the opinion „A game within like 30 to 60 zine pages? ONLY one? How can that be?!“. In which case StoryHunter Alphas gets you 4 games with changing gm’s, you can get three different solo experiences in Alone On A Journey or 7 short poem based games in Sedentary Dances. Maybe two are fine with This Thing We Started/The Brokenhearted? Who knows.
There are many, many more projects. Like the Light of the Setting Sun Western Setting, Artifices, Deceptions & Dilemmas to integrate exactly those into your games or system supplements like The Era Zone 2020.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 3 of 3 – Zine Quest, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/09 and 02/19.

Following my operation this collection is a bit delayed, and thanks to the zine quest it totals more than 150 projects of whom more than 70 are actual games. Thus I decided to split the collection in three parts, the other two being:
Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 1 of 3
Crowdfunding Collection #134 – Part 2 of 3 – Zine Quest

The Zine Quest brought up an astounding amount of new, whole tabletop rpg games, thus lets get to them. The Deep Nightly Fathoms is a PbtA-like game in which you explore dream worlds inspired by the artworks of Gustave Doré. The zine looks absolutely stunning and the topic well done, which is why I am tempted. HOME: SURVIVAL is way less dreamy, as you got your home and the world if coming to an end. The game has a rotating gamemaster and explores how your characters handle the bleak situation. If you don’t like it that depressing, you might DELVE into the depths of a fantasy dungeon, drawing it along the way. Thus, you might use the result of the solo game for your next campaign, cool.
If you are more up for drama, The Last Place on Earth has you explore the hubris and adventures spirit of Robert F. Scott’s doomed race to explore Antarctica. A game for which you need no GM. If you like your drama lighter and more fun, check out The Poodle Fanciers Club. Your playing nasty, or maybe devious, maybe desperate, housewives vying to climb to the top of their poodle club. A game I would have backed, would the zine deliver outside the US. Then there’s the light-drama game Operation: Playground. You’ll play kids with a creative kids view upon the world, which – at least for the kids – might as well be dramatically exciting.
If you want your drama to be all about feudalism, try vying for the Rebel Crown. A Forged in the Dark Spiel about a claiment for the throne and their entcourage who have to brave feudal fights and intruige. Which I support, well pledged to. If you want your characters pledges to revenge a dead Queen, checkout the PbtA-inspired game Our Queen Crumbles. Like the magic aspects and the topic and thus recommend it.
Changeling or fae courts are as well somewhat feudal, though I would describe them as rather fairy tale like. Cold Iron explores old folktales and stories for fantasy off the throtten paths of Tolkien and forms a really cool setting of it’s own. Check it out. Maybe you grew up on the Tales of Oz and are new in for The New Tales of Oz. I’ve only watched the Wizard of Oz movie, yet that zine looks really fascinating and as it has more to offer. I am keeping an eye on it. Under The Floorboards does cite „The Borrowers“ as its inspiration. Yet I personally do think it looks more along fairy tales like „Thumbelina“ or „The Steadfast Tin Soldier“ from my childhood. Anyway, I highly recommend it. I actually backed Thistle and Hearth, a game about belonging among outsiders with an intruiging take on Changelings. The PbtA playbooks spoke strongly to me.
Maybe you feel your inner punk stirring up after so much fairytale stuff. Punktopia has you covered with punkrock adventures where you stick it to the man. YEAH! My Brujah heart wants to backe it, while my Ventrue brain points to my account. I might keep my inner punk to mixtapes and you you like those you should check out the Monster Mix RPG. Maybe you ain’t sure what to put on it and do a roadtrip with some soul searching first, which is covered in i’m gonna be. Well, and if you wanna gonna be on a concert and have some love drama check out Oh No I’m Late to the MCR Concert & I Have an Extra Ticket.
Maybe you are looking for a nice Space game for your kids. The SPACE KIDS RPG has you covered with some educational content and the Space Goblins! appear to be more focused on the fun side of things.
Space Pulp, at least how I defined it, with Cronenberg-looking entries like The Bone Age are not that kids friendly, I guess. Neither is Treasures of T’urokk or UNCONQUERED – with the latter one pointing to being bronze-age sword & sorcery & sandales & Sci-Fi mix.
The currently funding Trophy game got a lot of spinoff games in this round of zines. With Oligarchy being my favorite. Kind of House of Cards as a ttrpg and presenting so convincingly that I not only went for a PDF option (as they don’t do international shipping) but got the main rpg. I didn’t manage to resist Night Reign – which focus on stealthy misdeeds – either and barely could say no to the nautical horrors of Sunken.
The Urban Fantasy corner uses SMALL TOWN: SKELETONS to address the boring to the bone challenges of little towns. While the gm-less and one-shot based Web-Slingers: Into the Worlds-Wide Web essentially delivers a setting along Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse as Powered by the Apocalypse. The only thing I got about THE VIOLET SANCTION is that it’s Urban Fantasy and queerpunk. Other than that I literally can’t understand the project with its arbitary boldness and capitalization of letters. It gives me an headache. Well, and Fruitless Existence just managed to get me to my breaking point of „too much kickstarters“. Maybe people like to play horny, murderous fruits with a deathwish. It only gets a blank and disappointed stare from me.
Then again, I do actually like and backed the Larp #Flirtsquad. Basically being about respectful (and successful? eh, nevermind, respectful!) flirting. Very good!
There are many, many more cool projects. Like The Watching Book, which may serve as an Accessoire and ingame artefact or Ancestry and Culture, which offers interesting alternatives to the concept of „race“ in D&D 5E. The Accessible Gaming Quarterly aims t make the hobby more inclusive, yet sadly is way out of my budget. I still recommend having a look. There’s supplements like CRUACH for adding swamps to Casket Lands um and Inside Out to add viscieral horror to games.
You’ll find fhose and many more project here:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #135, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/19 and 02/23.

In this collection, partly thanks to the smaller timeframe covered, the projects are back to a lower number, thus this time around its all in one post.

I’ll start with the I WAS A TEENAGE CREATURE game. As the title suggests it’s a game about playing teenagers, in a Urban Fantasy YA-book like highschool setting. Next to being tens the characters are creatures like ghosts, vampires, succubi or incubi, especially lucky humans or various other things. The conflict system are less based on the skills of the characters, they are all assumed to be competent, but on the emotion that motivates an action. While I don’t fancy highschool YA-stories that much, the system sounds intruiging to me. I think its cool idea and got it starred, Then there’s Anti-Hero: Supers a Forged in the Dark game, in which you play superheroes or to be more precise anti-heroes as can be found within Suicide Squad, Punisher, The Boyz or Watchmen. If you are a fan of the genre, take a look.
There are of course some Zines. Like Climbing the Witch’s Tower in which various characters., for various reasons, trying to ascend a mountain to confront a witch. The system utilizes the Trophy mechanics and looks interesting. The Great Bork Team, that’s a team of three sled dogs and their musher, tries to reach their goal too. The game looks tiny, yet quite worth a look. If you prefer a gm-less game to explore dreams, check out Liber Somnia: The Book Of Dreams. The creators took inspiration from the Amber book series and Amber Diceless RPG. Well, and last but not least, there is Lunch Break TTRPG: Into the Gullet. A neat, little fantasy game, that’s as fast and fun that you should be able to play it in the break. Just take a look at it.
If you are looking for a cool little gamebook, check out the Dark Path. It’s in zine format, yet the English project coming from Germany looked so nice, I backed it.
There are other cool project. For example, I backed the monster menagerie Other Magic #2: Monsters of the Americas. I do like the concept to get some more „unique“ monsters, and the guides how to handle monster in general was really cool. Then there are fan-made settings like the post-apocalyptic Endworld – Wanderer’s Guide for D&D 5E or the Welsh and Brythonic campaign The Camlann Chronicles for the same system. There are soundscapes like the Deadlands Audio Collection and many more projects.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #136 – Part 1 of 2, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/23 and 03/01.

With this edition of the collection, the Zine Quest officially ends, which should see it shrink back to its normal single post format. Yet, today you’ll find two parts:
Crowdfunding Collection #136 – Part 2 of 2 – Zine Quest

I am totally hooked onto Pasión de las Pasiones! The project by Brandon Leon-Gambetta, which from my understanding is realized with the help of Magpie Games. Anyway, the game focuses on the unique kind of drama Latin-American ans Spanish telenovelas. Next to those it offeres telenovela takes on the Mafia genre like La Reina del Sûr as well as highstakes vampire & supernatural drama. I got the Ashcan at GenCon 2018, I am enamored with the concept and backed it with enthusiasm. Check it out! The Midnight World on the other hand approaches way more serious and heavy topics. It explores the themes of anxiety and PTSD in a world in which monsters are real. The fact that mental issues are approached more complex and in depth, not reducing it to a „healthy“ and „broken“ dichtonomy but allowing a „wounded“ state, than can be found in most other urban fantasy games differentiates it in an interesting and enticing way. I have met the author James Davey at various US WoD Larp conventions and trust him as well as his team. Which might get enlarged with several WoD alumini like Jason Andrews and Jennifer Smith-Pulsipher – depending on the stretch goals. I am quite fascinated by the project and tempted to back it. Take a look, and consider it, please. If you prefer a way more whimsical, fantastic approach, you should take a look at the Dungeon Master Saga. If I understood the project correctly, the tarot and d6 based game, enables your character to fight with extremly escalating means. Like summoning dragons or turning an ally into a planet to drop onto a fiend. The illustrations looks nice and the concept is quite interesting. If you are a fan of the The Magitech Chronicles books by Chris Fox, you have to check out the kickstarter by the same name. Judging by the thumbnail it offers dragons in a quite fascinating Science Fiction setting. It uses the Catalyst enging for its game systems. Maybe your SciFi needs has you rather wonder „What, if Fallout, but with 90s instead of Atomic Punk“. What Remains basically delivers that. The world went kinda belly up thanks to the Y2K bug things, and now you got all the mutant, zombie fun with some SF elements and extra thick 90s nostalgia. Which makes me feel kinda old. Like people who see younglings playing Fallout but having lived through the 50s. Colony: SALEM doesn’t offer challenges like that. It’s a Science Fiction game which has you colonize worlds as Neo-Puritans. As such you will face mysteries as well as questions of betrayal and faith. The game is PbtA based and is interesting. Well, and then there is the GMD CORE RPG, a universal game system, that will enable you to play in various genres and settings, take a look.
The gamebook DRACULA – Curse of the Vampire by Jonathan Green caught my eye as I am a fan of vampire and of his previous work Alice’s Nightmare in Wonderland! The book appears sound, fun and classy. I did manage to get the day-1 reward and highly recommend you take a look. The book is fabulous.
There are other projects like The Little Game Master: Of Bards and Bullies, a mix of a novel and a supplement to a kidfriend D&D style game. I really like the design of the quite sparkly SkullSplitter Dice 2020 and if the Multicolor Frenzy Dice were d10 I might have backed if. If you are looking for a really, really nice GM-screen and dice tower, you have to have a look at Dragon Templ8 – ARTIFACTS! I am almost tempted.

With this edition of the collection, the Zine Quest officially ends, which should see it shrink back to its normal single post format. Yet, today you’ll find two parts:
Crowdfunding Collection #136 – Part 1 of 1

Kingdoms is not only the first game in this list, but as well the first I backed. Players will form and head a civilization, overseeing the birth of heirs, slay beasts and try to conquer the Sunless World within the span of generations. The game by Sophie Tinney uses light, OSR inspired rules as well as a neat design. I recommend having a look. Trying to conquer worlds requires planning, and Agile is a technique to manage small and big projects. If you like to explore the up and down of this particular technology you should check out Agile, Anxious, Attached. The project by Hannah Pate offers three game about the Agile project management system, burn out and office affairs. Quite unique topics for a ttrpg. Though quite contemporary, if you want a game a bit more in the past, check out Covert Wars. Players might assume the role of any parties involved in the cold war and fight for their cause. I feel The game might be worth having a look if you are into shows like The Americans. Maybe its still to modern for you, and to realistic. Seance and Sensibility gets you into the Ewardian setting of Austens novel with almost the same name and adds some eldritch horror to it. Fascinating. Though maybe you want to do your own thing? Gone with the Wights? Kingpink: Darkness enables players – its done without a GM – to create a rich setting and world. Which they might then play within for like 1 or 3 sessions, using a card based system. I am intruiged.
You could create your own dungeon crawl with it, or directly get your hands on Fabled Dead. While it looks kinda of Usagi Yojimbo – anything with a killer rabbit to me does – players apparently play mutants instead of anthropomorphic animals. If you are in for a d6 based hexcrawl, take a look. If you prefer a more classic fantasy dungeon crawl check out The Treasure At The End Of This Dungeon. Which kinda grants you the treasure of a dungeon at the beginning.
The Lost Tale offers a not so dungeon based fantasy game, and is inspired by East European folk and fairytales. The 2d6 system has been tested and I like the inspiration. If you prefer a more focused fantasy experience, you might use Darker Malleus to find out if your characters will become the monsters they went out to fight. It’s designed for 2 to 4 players and made for oneshots. Maybe you prefer it big scale, god-like? The story game Incarnis offers you the opportunity to assume the role of flawed and quite human gods, who’ll create a world and its myths. The game aims to offer the option to rotate the role of GM and plans to develop it’s system based on the DramaSystem. Though sometimes one just wants to venture out to kick ass and collect treasure. Which is what I imagine GFDP (Goddamn Fucking Dungeon Punks) deliveres. Including a quite ragged look. If you rather want to dream of what your beard – or a beard – like that facial hair in people faces – does instead of being just a lazy beard… you can experience beards whisking of into fantastical adventures in Beards & Beyond. Though, imagine that ones beard takes off, gets slayn, and you’ll wake up all face-naked kann be quite terryfing and high stake. The Magical Repair Shop offers a rather low stakes game in which you repair and care for magic items whether heirlooms, treasure or other things. The narrative game seems quite neat.
There is the possibility to combine technology and fantasy. Like, why not explore a haunted data partion? Pocket World offers a cool mix between Metroid(vanias) and the Forged in the Dark system. I would back it in a minute, if the only level that delivers to Germany wouldn’t require me to get creative (I don’t like to work or design XD). Alternatively you might teleport a media influencer from today, back into the 90s with Viral.exe. The card based game does appear to back on the 90s nostalgia and an interesting card based system.
Another rather abstract thing, imho, is faith. Lost Scriptures explores how to react to newly discovered scriptures. How to interpret, handle and speard them. An interesting idea realized with a narrative system. Numious does share the faith aspect, as an holy angel will hand the player a divine dictionary with its last breath, warning of the apocalypse. The dictionary, a literal one, will be torn to shred and obliterated as player use the magic words. A strange idea, that makes me feel uncomfortable. Like, I don’t like shredding books.
You won’t have to shred a book in the Post-Brexit game Shadow of Mogg. In the aftermath of the apocalypse – ya ain’t thinking it would go well? – your characters will explore the London Tube. Quite a new take on the genre and Powered by the Apocalypse. You’ll have a more traditional one in Apocalypse Survive. The zine is a translation from an Italian original game, and sees you confronted with a variety of post-apocalyptic challenges. I like that it only requires a translation. If you are into exploring the traumata of the zombie apocalypse, the betrayals, losses and such, check out Affliction. Which explores the topics following their own take of the 5 stages of grieve by Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross‘ and with the card based system of the Effect Engine.
You might be looking into the future, and find that Last Flight of the Pandora offers a fun, chaotic and quite doomed travel in a space ship. If you prefer your SF less fun and more dramatic Damocles‘ Decay, sees you assuming the role of leading a prison ship, which has been abonded next to a sun going supernova. You need to find other ships, trade and fight them, to get your ship ready to leave. While the other players will be doing the same and you don’t like your fellow ex-prisoners to mutiny. Then there’s Lost Ship, in which you play alone or with another person and try to get your troubled colony ship out of its misery. The project ain’t part of the Zine Quest, but is basically a zine, and a ttrpg. I think. Take a look. The fact that BROADSIDE 29XX combines the napoleonic war and atomic age syfy seems normal in comparison. Though it’s not exactly my cup of tea.
There’s always the option to go for some good ol‘ super hero game. Rooftops is a PbtA game where you actually play heros and try to make the world a better place.
What are the motivations and moral compass of intelligent rodents in a post apocalyptic world? Well, you might explore it in Crawlspace. Well, and if rodents are to rodent for you, you can be a trash panda or other animal scavenging for food in Eat Trash. Be Free. The game is done with a Blades in the Dark style system.
Sometimes playing alone will just scratch the right itch. Maybe you’ll keep a diary in Journey Back? With just a deck of cards you may experience and jot down your heroes journey. There’s as well the option to explore a world inspired by Soulsborne and the Mythos with Wandering Dreams. With a standard deck of card, you’ll be exploring the fantastical world. Well, I will, because I backed it. As the system is designed to be hacked and I am curious. If you long for the deep spaces of the universe check out Nadir. The game will be delivered in two zines, one for the rule and the other one to play.
If you want to do a quick larp, No Love’s Land might be worth a look. Two female killrobots will try to conquer each other with love. Kinda. From my understanding. You’ll be shooting at the other killrobot by throwing notes, err firing at them. Well, love is a battlefield? It seems a bit strange to me.
I personally would have loved to back the We’re Just Friends gamebook by Paul Czege. Sadly, all the international pledges are gone and there ain’t even a PDF. If you are in the US, check it out!
There are other projects. Like the Dreamhaven setting for Old-School-Essentials and OSR or the system neutral GRAND TOWER HOTEL. If you alway wanted a supplement about pets for your adventurer, check out Dungeon Pets! I am tempted by it. Well and you might be out of the Bunker to experience OSR adventures with the zine.
You’ll find those, and many more cool projects, here:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #137, including every tabletop rpg project started between 03/01 and 03/22.

Thanks to COVID-19 and other hassles I had to delay the crowdfunding collection. Which in consequence means you got plenty of projects to enjoy while your practicing social distancing. Sadly, some projects finished before I got this collection done. Seeing that they are more than usual, I decided to give them a brief post-closure shoutout.

Though, let’s get to the projects. First and foremost I wouldlike to highlight Bloodsworn. It’s a vampire game that uses the Ironsworn system. Thus enabling to design the vampire setting and mythos to your liking. The game can be played with a group and a GM, without a GM and even solo. I am enticed with the idea, the concept and the presentation and do highly recommend it. Check it out, it does still need quite some funding. A game that doesn’t need to really wrestle for funding is the 2nd edition of World Wide Wrestling. The cool wrestling rpg, get a well deserved polish and new edition, still with a powered by the apocalypse system and slam dunking the system. Before my sports metaphors get more off track, let’s take a look at Magonomia. The game offers a fantasy renaissance setting with an interesting take on magic and spiritism. If you like Fate, take a look. I think it deserves it. If you rather prefer a more traditional fantasy game, check out the third edition of Savage Kingdoms. It appears quite competent. As does the superhero game Ascendant. I didn’t get to much into the details, but the system seems well laid out and quite a lot of backers love it. Agnomely is a smaller game. On the one hand you’ll be playing gnomes which are small creatures. On the other hand, it comes as a zine. Take a look at that cutey. If you rather have one system and decide the genre for your self, why not take a glance at Dice & Capital?
I personally like the Mecha and Science Fiction genre and Beam Saber has you covered with both. Seeing your mechas head out to kick ass and do missions. It comes with a Forged in the Dark system and I am tempted. Maybe you prefer cyberpunk instead?Then you should take a look at the PbtA like game Ascendancy – well and Cyborgs are kinda fleshy mechas ^^;
Sometimes, in the time of social distancing, you might like to play a good ol‘ solo ttrpg. In which case there’s Monsters! Monsters. That’s if you like a traditional fantasy setting and would like to have an adventure inclided. Then there’s Foolscap Octavo RPG Zines, in which you’ll get the solo game Phantasticine, a game that might help you sleep (unironically), the supplement Substratum about exploring mindscapes, and and Laser Beams Like So Many Stars in which you can cheer for mecha (pilots). Last but not least there is the 2021 Quest Calendar: A Year of Adventure where you’ll get an adevnture each day, to explore. Very cool.
There are of course many other interesting projects. Like the impressively illustrated Izirion’s Enchiridion of the West Marches campaign, the Legendlore setting by Onyx Path for D&D 5E, the Multiverse online platform or the Keyfish Crit dice that got lil‘ fishies inside or the Dice Soap & Token Snowglobe Dice that have lil‘ skulls (and other things) inside. I couldn’t resist those.
Of course I couldn’t resist Vampire: The Masquerade – Vendetta either. It’s a fast, competitive card game placed in the V:tM setting with tons of cool goodies. Check it out!

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #138, including every tabletop rpg project started between 03/22 and 03/29.

This week around there are not that many projects, though the one around are quite interesting, thus let’s get to it.

First there is Fading Suns: Pax Alexius offering a new edition of the popular roleplaying game. The project of Ulisses Games does not only offer the corebook, but about over a dozen sourcebooks for the colorful setting and game. I recommend having a look if you like the previous edition or are looking for an science fiction/fantasy game. Gunship is another Science Fiction game, though focused on Space Western. The project offers a look onto the d20 system it uses (for free) and I think the project might be well worth it. Then there’s Teenage Wasteland. A Powered by the Apocalypse game, in which kids got to brave a post-apocalyptic wastelands. The project is interesting enough, though it has a flexible funding goal.
If you are up for a German language game, you should take a look at Scherbenfresser. It’s a storytelling game with a horror focus and I think it offers a quite interesting setting.
Though you might like to check out a gamebook like Retro Quest, it’s just 100 pages but looks quite solid. I consider the Teacher-Gamer Handbook more than solid. It offers a way to integrate tabletop games to teach life skills. I am no teacher myself, though I do consider it intruiging and recommend having a look.
There are of course more projects, like the CAPERS Offworld RPG sourcebook for the Capers RPG. It offers alien, space action, space cops & robbers with a 20s Science Fiction twist and I got an eye on it. There are interesting adventures like Tails of the City for PFRPG or the nifty looking Elite Metal Dice.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #139, including every tabletop rpg project started between 03/29 and 04/12.

This article got a week delayed, yet is finally there with quite some cool projects. A project close to my heart is the support project for Kainskind. A friendly, local ttrpg and hobby vendor in Freiburg, Germany, which got hit hard by the crisis. I backed their projects and hope other gamers will follow.

In regards to the English projects, I do quite like Stranded, as it offers an interesting mix of Outer Worlds and Borderlands. You’ll get action, mutants, (killer) robots and more. All from the developer of Delve. I got it starred for consideration and recommend it. Another fascinating project is Sunken Dungeon. DnD+Coloring. The game follows the tradition of Cloud Dungeon and thus offer a book that will be heavily modified during playing. Though you still can play it multiple times, by printing more copies. An interesting take, that you should check out for yourself. If you are rather looking for some solid, action heavy superhero action Galaxies in Peril should got you covered. The Forged in the Dark based game offers exactly that. Maybe you rather plan outdoor trips with your friends for the times after social distancing, in this case have a look at 2oz5E. It offers a very condensed version of D&D 5E and aims to be played in the field. Then there is Delta Gamma vs. Draculas. From my understanding one plays a member from a Sorioty on the „loser“ side of things and fights of a college aged „Dracula“. I am not sure what’s the zine exactly about, but backed it because of the chance for a vampire factor. Angels War aims to be a mecha game inspired by Escaflowne and NGE, yet does offers very little information – textual or illustrations – to get me interested in having a deeper look.
That doesn’t apply to the „Game Book“ section, which this time around offers not so much CYOA-like books, but books that can be used for rpg-like gaming. For example there is Our Vacation/Cold War Navy by the creator of Thousand Year Old Vampire. The games, they are two separate one, guide a single player into creating a story with diary entries and so on. A cool and very, very affordable project I gladly backed. Check it out. Then there is the StoryMaster’s Tales „Dracodeep Dungeon“ Hybrid RPG. Which offers an interesting mix of ttrpg, boardgame and gamebook. You can play it alone or with other players and I do actually feel tempted to back it. It to is recommended.
There are many more cool project, like the sourcebook Fantasy City Sites and Scenes, which helps creating and including exactly what it says in the title. There are the sparkly Saberdice and the fluorescent Starry Mist dice, which both look rad. If you prefer to play online or with app support, check out Atlas Words for world creation and keeping up with things. The Fireball app apparently does offer direct game interactions via smartphones. If you like to add music, maybe use the SoundTale music board or consider soundscapes like Tavern Tales or Glorantha. There is a comic called Dungeons and Dimwits as well as a card deck that helps to set up Heroic Challenges.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #141, including every tabletop rpg project started between 04/26 and 05/10.

After some quite chaotic two weeks, the collection if back in a regular fashion, thus let’s get started.

I’ll start with Dragon Fighters by Luca De Marini. The game focus on fighters being involved in a kind of perpetual ongoing fight, like a tournament. The project offers unique visuals, that do point towards inspiration from games like Streetfighter and other beat’em ups, yet it doesn’t look like a simple carbon copy. At least not to me. The game offers various subsystems, and I am heavily tempted to back it, if I can find it in my budget. The project does still need some help, and I would recommend you’ll have a look at it. If you are looking for a fantasy game for the whole family maybe check out Lost in the Fantasy World. You’ll be playing a kid that has been moved from the real world to a fantastical realm. In regards of mechanics the game offers a narrative d6 system, The campaign is nicely colorful and you can already get the PDF. Thus, I recommend to have a look. Then there is the dark, modern Bloodlines & Black Magic RPG. Which offers a setting that reminds me of the World of Darkness, just that you get to play essentially crossover from the start and build in. The system is d20 and uses arcana cards, which makes it quite interesting, imho. I recommend the project, even as it is outside of my budget. You might enjoy the tech-noir approach of NEUROCITY. In which you explore a subterranean complet and topics of exentialism and psychology get address. The game seeks funding on IndieGoGo and Kickstarter in tandem. The last game is HardBoot a 5th ed D20 RPG, directed to celebrate the very first CGI cartoon. I haven’t seen the cartoon and don’t really feel engaged by the IndieGoGo project.
Fans of gamebooks will find that Destiny’s Role 2: Venom of Vortan offers to finance the third entry into the Destiny series. Then there’s Vala the Beast a boardgame like gamebook or a gamebooklike boardgame. It might be a fringe for the gamebook category, but I think it warrents to be including.
Of course there are many more projects. Fans of Mage: The Ascension will find that the M20 Technocracy Reloaded projects offers a brand new look at the Technocracy, the Web 3.0 and other fascinating aspects of Mage, that haven’t been explored in other books and needed – or could use – an update. It’s a cool book and if you are a fan of the WoD, check it out. Maybe the success will bring forth more books for M20, C20 or even x20 treatment for gamelines left out so far. Then there’s the Ekphrastic Beasts bestiary, which offers visually stunning monsters. There is the Fantasy City Sites and Scenes II to spice up your campaigns with the mentioned sites and scenes. I personally like the Witch Hunters adventure, a solo-scenario for D&D5E, which might be played with more players. You’ll find Dice and dungeons ITA Backpacks, Sidebags and enamel pins, a Cards Against the DM minigame with an inspirational aspect and The Adventurer’s RPG Tiles for creating caves.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #143, including every tabletop rpg project started between 05/17 and 05/24.

This collection spans back over 4 weeks and doesn’t include the last week. I still going to publish it, as next week more projects will have ended, and my current health state prevents me to add a full week of projects to complete it.
I hope you still enjoy the overview, and if you see a project you are interested in, act fast, it might be soon ending!

The Littlebox RPGs projects offers two roleplaying games in one small, tarotset sized box. The games are narrative, don’t require a gamemaster and are designed to be able to be played right out of the deck. The game Villagesong addresses change and leadership and the game Our Mundane Supernatural Life addresses the challenged of day to day challenges. I like the games, the concept and recommend you having a look at the project. Then there’s Tian Shang: Lone Wolf Fists, which serves ones need for high-octane KungFu action in a post-apocalyptic world. The system is designed to be fast and dynamic, while the setting reminds me of Fist of the North Star. Cool. Then there is The Epic of Dreams RPG. The game offers a fantasy setting and more interestingly some quite interesting mechanics. Like, you don’t need a character sheet and the system is based on guessing a number. Which might sound aloof, but it appears the game has been written and tested, thus I do recommend it.
If you are looking for a solo game, check out Red Bean: Dragon Slayer. It uses a poker deck with comic illustrations and I am strongly tempted to back it.
Larpers should check out the Crescendo Giocoso Ritornello collection of 12 small Larps. I backed, received and enjoyed the predessesor to the project, and thus wholeheartedly recommend it.
There are many more cool projects. For example the dynamic library dungeon The Stygian Library, the nice looking HYPERBOREA DICE and the FATUM set of cards. Fatum allows to for the creation of backgrounds for characters in fantasy games in general, as well as D&D 5E specifically. Something that I consider very cool, and where I am tempted.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #145, including every tabletop rpg project started between 06/14 and 07/05.

The collection has no fewer than 70 projects, which makes it massive. Thanks to reason of time, the sheer amount and my health, I didn’t took a deep dive into every project, but hope to offer an interesting overview..

You will find that the Slayers roleplaying game present you the opportunity to hunt monsters in a city that will be formed by your players. Next to 4 different classes the game sports an asynchron combat system, which I find very, very fascinating. There is a magazine based series of rpg games that will have have its first issue called Adventure Presents: Tartarus Gate. Within just 54 pages you’ll find a complete SciFi horror game that has everything included required to play, but the 3 six-sided dice. If you like to design your own setting, the BYTE RPG offers a d8 based system to facilitate it. Along with 7 ready made settings for those who aren’t that much into world building. If you are more a world building purist, and you are looking for „realistic“ rules, checkout the 5A System. It might got you covered.
If you are an anime fan and love the works of Studio Ghibli check out Monster Care Squad. In this game you’ll play as elite veterinarian who have to care about mythical creatures. Then there’s My Anime Story, if you like to implement your favorite anime setting yourself. Though the description is a bit bare bones.
Fully fleshed and aimed at kids it the rpg Fairies of the Mistglade. Which has separate tiers for the age groups of 3 to 5, 5 to 8 and 8+ years old. With varying approaches to arithmetics to support the development of the children playing. The second edition of SLICE on the other hand is designed by kids for kids. Which occurs to me is a sure way to make sure that kids are actually interested in it.
Straying away from children ~ maybe onto more people in puberty ~ who want to play a big, evil badguy, the Dark Lord has that covered. You assume the role of overlords who want to plunder, burn stuff down and kill the heroes. Thus you got a villain meetings and fitting campaign. If I were 20 years younger, I’d think that’s cool. Though the system does actually sound interesting. If you are interested in classic fantasy, maybe check out Alpha Duo. You can download the base version of the rules system for free. Then there’s the old school fantasy game Chronicles of the Secret Time from Italy. Which looks very cool and is worth having a look.
Fans of rule-lite game should check out Vizor with it’s dynamic character creation and utilization of cards, and/or Runt which focuses on a narrative approach and is genre agnostic.
If you open up the Storybox! project, you’ll get 8 narrative games in one kickstarter, and with Our Innermost Thoughts you’ll have 5 experience to explore yourself.
Maybe you are looking for a gamebook? Then check out the classical game book Myrrk Book One. It sounds legit. The Dark Village isn’t classic at all, but I think it is a good fit for the category and worth checking out.
Next to all those games, I think you should give the Campo de Mitos setting by Paco Jaen a chance. It takes the mythos to a place in Gibralta and looks very cool. The Sinful RPG sourcebook will enable to add sinful sprincles into your scenario. Where I am just in love with the design of the Elixier Dice. They got swirly, glittery stuff in them… beautiful! Though the dice from Dice Macabre and Dawn and Dusk got nice designs as well. Well, and if you are prone to say No More Dice,… that project offers an abacus like alternative to roling. It might be among the Things Heroes Say? Which is a collection of RPG phrases.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #146, including every tabletop rpg project started between 07/05 and 07/26.

After almost three weeks passed, there are 67 projects to report on, thus, let’s get started.
I will start by highlighting Jiangshi: Blood in the Banquet Hall. The RPG places the players in the role of chinese imigrants that happen to be running a restaurant in the American 1920s. They will have to face the challenges of keeping the business running whilst facing racism, and as if that’s enough to deal with there are the Jiangshi. Vampires plaguing the community and family by night. The game is fascinating, especialls with a mechanic that doesn’t focus on physical conflict (thus, you won’t dropkick the vampires into oblivion). I am very intruiged, highly recommend it and might join in to get a boxset of the game. I did back INSPIRISLES in the blink of an eye. The setting about kids and teens being confronted with creatures from Celtic folklore, Neverending Story and Labyrinth style, appears rather ’standard‘ to me. I personally got sold on the aspect that the game aims to teach the players ASL/BSL (American/British sign language). Which got me hooked. Check if out. For those who do enjoy Horror flicks in the B-Movie style of the ~50s to 60s, take a look at They Came from Beyond the Grave! from Matthew Dawkins. The game will have you recreate daring & horrific adventures in the style of the old movies. Playing the characters, using their quips and bringing movie tropes like less than stable sets to life. System wise it uses the Storypath System from Onyx Path and I do recommend the current Actual Play series by Red Moon Roleplaying. If you want your horror with a good portion of the post-apocalypse check out When Shadows Fall. The system draws inspiration from PbtA, Cortex as well as the Mutant Year Zero games, and the project page offers further details. The illustration look nice and I do think it is worth taking a look. Then there is The New West, a PbtA Western RPG. The project page isn’t detail but it ain’t expensive.
Fans of Cyberpunk and/or Hip Hop should have a look at Axon Punk: Expanded. The project offers an enhanced edition of the corebook. I pledged and received the original corebook, I am happy with it and thus I do recommend it. If you are looking for some multiverse aetherpuznk stuff Aether and Steamworks 1.5 might be right up your ally. It does look at least nifty.
If you do enjoy fantasy, maybe take a look at the Super Simple Roleplaying Game. It is a small game, which aims to live up to its name by being simple and accessible. Then there’s the Magic Seekers RPG, in which you play teens or young adults in a fantasy setting. It will see you be ready to go with 3 adventures.
I personally couldn’t resist the optics of Necronautilus. A science fiction game in which you play „Death Agents“ on their missions in rather psychodelic settings. It uses „words“ a long with a role under mechanicas its base system and I am utterly capitvated. Take a look, and maybe back it too. If you are looking for SF with steam punk, Brass Rings got you covered. The tiny game, which should fit into your pocket, has you play adventures, bipedal space rats.
Maybe you like cards or want to give cards a go? In this case, check out Cartomancy. You can chose the setting of your game freely and it does offer tactical depth if the players wish for it. The card design does look nice, and I feel at least a little bit intruiged by the project. Then there is Duality, which does offer a universal approach as well. Alas, the project doesn’t offer a lot of information and even the name is still in somewhat of a flux.
There are many more cool projects. Like the magazine Era Zone 2020 for the Era-sytsem family, The Dark Eye – Gods of Aventuria does offer to expand the cosmos of the originally German ttrpg for English speakers and the Book of Beastly Creatures does provide quite a nice menagerie. There are many cool dice, like the Geocentric Light /Metallic RPG Dice, the Color Spray Dice and even stuff like the Foldable Metal Dice. Then there’s Dungeons of Doria which offers various Print & Play Tiles for rooms and artworks; both to support online roleplaying games, just take a look.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #147, including every tabletop rpg project started between 07/26 and 08/09.

Back after two weeks and admist a summerly heatwave, I can report that there are about 69 projects started, which I like to present to you in this collection.

Let’s get started with XII: Inner Demons, an urban fantasy rpg, in which the players set out to prevent an apocalypse due to happen in twelve days by the arrival of an arch demon. The game looks nice and presents a setting made for small campaigns with a distinct ending. I recommend checking the playtest at DTRPG and having a look. If you are a fan of time travelling Science Fiction, with open campaigns, check out Zoetrope. The game by Dane Asmunds is fully card based, which means you’ll use the cards instead of dice and for describing your character. I backed Moth Children from him and do recommend having a look at this project. Travelling back in time to the glorious 70s to 80s you might like to check out Glam Metal Monster Hunter. The micro RPG zine offers a game about Neon Knights and Denim demons and uses a small d6 based system. Cute. Another cute concept offers Magic School Mystery, basically all about juveline adventures at the titular magic school. A somewhat magical school is as well the setting of Preparing for Paris. A game in which you will play personified sports, going through some high school drama while trying to qualify themselves for the Paris olympics. Which does sound fun and neu.
Wanderhome at the otherhand is a pastoral fantasy game about travelling animal folk. The serene game about travelling through various seasons, uses an unique game engine inspired by No Dice, No Masters. The designer, Jay Dragon, has Kickstarter and RPG design experience with Sleepaway and I would recommend having a look at Wanderhome. The Dames of Asstoria offers a more traditional RPG game. You’ll be playing girl monsters on their adventures. The adventures aim at being PG-13 and using a d100 system. An even more traditional game is The Majestic Fantasy RPG. You can use it as a standalone system, or as an sourcebook for Sword and Sorcery.
The game Cthulhu Parlour’s „Hotel Lovecraft“ mixes roleplaying game, boardgame and gamebook elements with some theater elements. It thus can’t be called a straight up rpg, but I think it is an interesting project. You’ll find that Vampire: The Masquerade Rivals isn’t a rpg at all, but an expandable card game based on the prominent ttrpg IP. I think it is super cool, backed it and do recommend that you check it out.
There are many more cool projects, like the Svilland setting for D&D 5E, the sourcebook Guide to Kroma for traveling in games or the Chewer of Fingers adventures. There are the beautiful Koi-waii Dice and the newest Elder Dice: Shards of Illumination project. You’ll find the Dark Art Book and Cards ~ tarot cards ~ along with an interpretation aid for D&D and the fluffly Tiny RPG Universe Plushies.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #148, including every tabletop rpg project started between 08/16 and 08/09.

The weather cooled down and thus I am back to a somewhat regular weekly schedulded. Despite the recent wordpress changes to the editor, which are hell. Without further ado, let us have a look at the current 36 projects.

Let’s start with the fascinating, new game Gun&Slinger. The game for one GM and two players has one player play the „Slinger“ and one player play the „Gun“. Like the literal shooting iron. Though, given that the mallable setting is post-magic, the gun actually is sentient, still can do magic, and is able to intimidate people on its own. Combined with a card based system I am quite intruiged and consider backing it. As an afficinado of Urban Fantasy I did actually back The Great American Witch. Just as it suggests in the title, the game has you assume the role of a witch. With the choice of all kind of witches. Necromantic witches, herbal witches, psychic witches,… it is a cool concept, especially if you like the WoD. Though check out their video (which got me hooked). The system, that utilizes elements of PbtA and „The Great American Novel“ seems cool as well. Mnemonic offers another fascinating twist, in that you’ll be playing „Weaver“ who shape the narratives of heroes and thus form a sort of canon. I like the idea, and you can checkout the core system for free. Then there’s Fria Ligan who are reviving Twilight 2000 with a new edition. The game puts you in a grim & gritty World War III scenario. The system is a 2d6 variant of the MY0 enginge and the project is quite popular. If you are a fan of the WW III setting, the illustrations or the system, take a look. Though personally I don’t like the WW III setting.
If you like really classic fantasy, take a look at Old-School Essentials: Advanced Fantasy. Basically AD&D OSR, if my guess is right? If you like classic fantasy or the OSR, take a look. I think it would be right up your ally. If you are interested in Sword & Sorcery fantasy, checkout the second edition of Sword Noir. It looks quite solid.
If, in these times of the corona plague, you are looking for a sole game,… Dungeonrunnner: The Companion & Immortal Set seems cool. It might be more a solo dungeon crawler than a gamebook or a tabletop rpg, but I think it veers close enough to warrant a mention.
There are many more cool projects. There’s Wondrous Expeditions which will support / aid your world building efforts, there are D&D 5E adventures to be had in The Dream Prison, the Ice-covered Lava DICE look cool, as do the D20 Sharp Edges Inclusions with Star / Moon dice, which you might put into the stylish and customizable Token Sesame container.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #151, including every tabletop rpg project started between 09/20 and 09/27.

The collection is back to its normal, weekly release and thus offers a short, yet mostly very delightful, list of projects. Enjoy! :)

I will start with the Good Strong Hands RPG, which offers a dark game with whimsical elements. The name is inspired by the heart wrenching scene of the Neverending Story and the setting premise does somewhat follow the book/movie as the players try to save the world of Reverie from the destructive „Void“. Thus the stories focus on friendship, teamwork, dangerous forces and handling a world in crisis. The world of Reverie is created by the players in a group effort, as it is a world of imagination. The system offers gamebooks and a d6 pool system. I feel very tempted to back it, and recommend you take a look. I am as well enticed to back the 2nd edition of Kingdom. The game, by renowned game designer Ben Robbins, has you forming a community ~ well the titular kingdom ~ and explore what happens to it. The concept is cool, and you can be quite sure Ben delivers. Fans of genre pieces like Indiana Jones, the Mummy, Uncharted & co. should have at Broken Compass. The game has already funded, and created an Italian edition, and now its up to get the books out in English. You can check out the quickstart rules, and I do love that the core book is presented in a notebook/journal style book. Which is, why I do consider backing it, while not being that much interested in the genre. Which is cool too. It helps, that the game looks great. If you are looking for a new system, along with settings, you should check out Epic! Game System: Realms of Mana and Stars of Mana. The system is promised to be brand new, and will be available under an OGL like license. Next to that you’ll get a fantasy setting in Realms of Mana and a science fiction sandbox setting in Stars of Mana. A nice project, that does appear to have a lot of work being done at..
The times of corona, might have you looking for another journaling rpg, in which case Down the Old Rail Line has you covered. It’s a small, charming, PDF only game, in which you take a bicycle trip through a fantasy world and note down the foreign landscape and events. Next to being nice, it is at a rather low price bar.
Fans of game books, should check out the Arkham Archives, which explore the works and settings of Lovecraft. The project offers the first part of a five part series. Next to a book, you’ll get a stylish deck of cards, which got me hooked, especially at ‚just‘ 15€. Take a look.
There are other cool projects, like the The Wagadu Chronicles. Next to a nice, isometric afrofantasy MMO, it offers a D&D 5E setting book to go along with it. I did join the nice project from a game dev studio in Berlin (Germany) and recommend you have a look. If you wonder how to put more Dragons into your D&D game, checkout The Cosmic Dragon Breviary: A Draconic Compendium – it gets you a lot of draconic stuff. Though if you up for an adventure, pardon an incursion, for the Trophy RPG, take a look at Alchemy. Then there are Ice Dice, offering you a mold to create ice dice, to keep your drinks cool. The Amazing Fireball Dice on the other hand ain’t to hot to game, and look great. There is a deck of card like the Itemancy Cards for D&D or a soundscapelike Winter RPG Adventure.
You find these, and many, many more projects, in this list:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #152, including every tabletop rpg project started between 09/27 and 10/11.

Back after two weeks with no less than a total of 91 projects, of which 18 are ttrpgs. If you like to get directly to the meat of the collection, just skip my rather long preamble.

Though lets start with Acheron. The game introduces the players to the concept of „Grimpunk“, which in this case involves alternative 1930ties. A world that offers eldritch horrors to be fought and overcome by the heroes. The system provides a mix of narrative elements, three sanity attributes and a deadly combat system. I think it’s interesting and deserves a look. Throwing Hornes offers less dark setting, as you set out for a tour with your demon metal band through hell. The game is presented as a small zine and played with d6. To stick to the topic of demons, and add some angels into the mix, in Era: Forbidden both are at war. You’ll be playing as supernaturally enhanced humans, trying to avoid that humanity ends up as a collateral of the raging war. In regards to mechanics it uses the well tested Era d10 System. Maybe you are looking for something narrative? Then check out Spindlewheel. A game in which you weave stories as a group with the help of tarot cards.
In regards of fantasy games, Yonder has the player characters flee from a calamity. The search for refugee and the run will bring their true character to the front, which may include literal transformation. I am intruiged, given that the book aimes to be graphic novel size (~150 pages) and the mechanics presented look interesting, I am in. If you like Blades in the Dark but look for some planar fantasy, check out Sig: City of Blades. The setting looks colorful, interesting and you should take a look for yourself. Maybe you played Stars without Numbers but wished it was fantasy? Then Worlds Without Number has you covered with their aesthetically pleasing take on bringing the OSR mechanics to a fantasy world.
There are some games, which imho fit the Halloween season fine. Like being scary but not to much horror. For example MORTASHEEN pretty much nails the look for me, even as it is a bit shy on how it is played. Then you should check out Gruesome Ghoulies. You’ll be playing rowdy ghouls, investigating mysteries, driving Hot Rods and playing Rock’n’Rool. The game is available in a free One-Sheet version and the Kickstarter aims to finances a zine upgrade. Cool. Then there’s Rest in Pieces, which describes itself as a „Card & Block Tower RPG“. Basically hoping to emulate fast, funny and bizarre cartoon action ala Rick & Morty ab. While I am not sure about the mechanics, I didn’t delve to deep into it, it has the looks.
If you prefer your horror more horrific, maybe check out Terrors and Tommyguns. The game combines cosmic horror and the 1920s, along with a d20 rollover system. If you are up for some American Gothic … Horror, check out Flames of Freedom. It throws you into the revolution of 1776 and sees you fighting monsters next to the confederates using the system introduced by Zweihänder. I am intruiged, as they do actually got consultants and try to differ a bit from a „European White“ point of view, which tends to be the usual approach. If you like a quick, one shot rpg, check out Fright Nights: Wendigo RPG. An adventure and RPG all in one little zine, aimed at beginner STs and players alike (next to more experience ones). It is part of an intruiging series. Then there’s the Widdershins RPG, which explores the 1910 setting of Whyborne & Griffins- a queer romance series. While I don’t know the source, it looks like fighting eldritch horror Jane Austen style, something quite fascintating. Check it out.
For people who like SF, maybe take a look at Weirdspace. It offers a scifi sandbox setting with quite some British comedy. You can checkout a free 16-pages prerelease on DTRPG to get a look at the game, and it appears to be a very solid project. Maybe you have wondered what would happen if The Expanse and Doom were combined? Well, Will Power Games answer this scenario in Death Diverse. The lavishly illustrated project offers a fresh 5d6 system and does interest me. If you ever wished for a Stargate SG-1 game, well, you are being served. Explore different worlds via Stargates and meddle in the conflict between Tau’ri and Goa’uld – all with a D&D 5E variant system
Next to those games there are many more intruiging, cool projects. As an avid fan of the World of Darkness I had to back Ghost Hunters for World of Darkness 20th Anniversary. The sourcebooks offers ghost hunters to be used with all WoD x20 gamelines, and might even be seen as kind of a core book. Super cool! Join in! If you are a fan of undead and necromantic things, maybe take a look at the Dungeon Master’s Adventure Pack Issue 5 – Necropolis zine, offering just that. There are intruiging adventures like Ancient Undead Spider Wizard, which will be funded along with a vinyl record, or you could try to understand mistosis (real life one) with the The Great Divide module for D&D 5E. The Snow Cone & Sundae dice for DCC see me strongly tempted. Well, and you could just make your own dice with the Royal Mold System. The card deck Deck of Dungeons from Germany might be worth having a look and I am intruiged by the GAME THEORY IN THE AGE OF CHAOS book project, which takes a rather political lense to game development.
You’ll find these and many, many more intruiging projects here:

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #153, including every tabletop rpg project started between 10/11 and 10/25.

After two weeks I am back with a fresh collection. I am not yet sure when I can do the next one, whether or not I can keep them up regularly, as I’ll be at a clinic for some time. Yet, let us dive right into this one.

Let’s start with a project I backed with great enthusiasm and passion: Thirsty Sword Lesbians! It is a game Powered by the Apocalypse system, which explores conflicts in a fantasy setting and the personal drama between the protagonists, and antagonists, that goes along with it. Right in the style and vain of series like SheRa or Revolutionary Girl Utena! The project nailed down the town, the playbooks themselves are inspiring, the preview looks promising and I trust Evil Hats ability to deliver. Plus, you’ll be supporting a diverse team of talented people. Check it out, it’s worth it! Making the vague theme of princesses a bit more concret you might like to have a look at The Excellents RPG. The game has an explicitely family friendly approach, offering adventures in a Cartoon world with a an extra portion of princesses. The game uses the Polymorph System, got some ENnies already and its financing a third print run. I’d say it is well worth having a look. Mud: A Golem Memoir takes a way more serious approach as in this solo-rpg you’ll be exploring life as a Golem. The zine sized game does explore challenging topics like the feeling to be out of the place in ones own body. I consider the game fascinating and I am tempted to back it. If your looking for a quick game with friends, check out Three-Step Plan. The game aims to offer one-shots and sports a character creation system in which you define the motivation and goal of your character first. The project does offer insight into various aspects of the game, and it might be worth having a longer look. If you are into creating your own worlds, instead of just characters, the reprint of the UNBOUND RPG will have you covered. Though you gotta be fast.
Fans of fantasy games should take a look at WanderSquares. Conceptwise it is somewhat between a gamebook and a ttrpg. The world gets laid out with cards and you check a book what will be happening on the tile in question. An interesting project, though my curiosity got spiked by the evocative artstyle. If you like out to explore dungeons Perilous Roleplaying has been covered. You’ll be creating the dungeon as you play and the game can be played with or without a GM, just as you like it. Then there’s EvenRa, offering a Fantasy world of its own, including races, creatures, classes and a dice system of its own. All explained in detail on the project page. I’d place After: Emerging from the Fall right between Fantasy and SciFi. The D&D 5E powered game explores the world in the far Cyberpunk future, after some apocalypse, that turned quite fantas-y It cools quite interesting, take a look.
If you are looking for a purely Cyberpunk game, check out Carbon 2185. A successful campaign will finance a fresh print run with a seriously updated core book. I remember seeing the game on Dragonmeet last year, and I do recommend it if you like Shadowrun or Altered Carbon! You might as well get so Anime inspired SciFi by pledging for Sengai Jidai. A Fate game, covering material from Sailor Moon, X/1999 up to Serial Experiment Lain, with an extra dose of cyborgs and Kajiu. Including a unique and beautiful artstyle! Take a look and support it, the project does need some more backers and would deserve them. I am personally looking forward to Drakar, as it uses not only d6 but dominoes as well! With a setting somewhere between Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Expanse I am hooked. I marked the microRPG for review and may pledge for it.
Fans of gamebooks should take a look at Haunted Tower – a mix of a classic gamebook and a comic with quite a Halloween vibe. For a more classic approach you should have a look at the The Iron Uprising: Wanderer Gamebook+. It will set you up with adventures involving cybered up dwarfs.
There are plenty more exciting and cool projects. For example the RS²: Roleplaying Social Relationship System zine, that provides tools to manage all those pesky relationships. I backed it. You might add music to your game with sourcebooks or rather materials like TRPG Tweaks. Well and the adventure Putrescence Regnant brings literal music to MÖRK BORG exploits – as it contains a vinyl. There are cool dice like the Birds of ParaDice or the Candy Heart d6 Dice Set. If you like to track your stats, check out The Amulet of Life. Well, and you can prepare to get festive with the Mythroll Armory’s Adorable Dungeon Christmas Ornaments.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #154, including every tabletop rpg project started between 10/15 and 11/01.

Despite having limited internet access, I composed a collection, which I translated later than usual. I hope you still enjoy the projects started between 10/15 and 11/01.

Let’s start with the project named Xenolanguage. The game from the makers of Dialect explores understanding an alien language. Like in, a language spoken by aliens. The game offers quite unique and distinct mechanics, that enable a myriad of unique playthroughs. I am fascinated by the mechanics, the topic of languages and highly recommend having a look. I got the project on my list. If you want to explore an Edwardian England, check out The Dee Sanction. A rules lite game in which you play mages who managed to escape death by trying to catch other people who can enact magic. The 60 page spanning zine is well worth having a look. If you always wanted to marry OSR and d20 modern, checkout Heavenscape: Reloaded. The game provides you with a whole multiversum to explore.
Which gets us neatly to the genre of Urban Fantasy. The funding of the second edition Urban Shadows is a true juggernaut of the genre. The award laden Powered by the Apocalypse game by Magpie Games sees the players playing various supernatural types in one group. Thus, it will make a nice addition to my love for the WoD which usually focus one kind of creature. I backed it, check it out. I am somewhat tempted by SHIVER, maybe because of the fanged thumbnail. The game aimes to have you play pulp, horror or scary tv shows and movies. A neat idea that uses unique dice. Then there’s Dark Places & Demogorgons 5e. Capitalizing in the Stranger Things hype by bringing the genre to D&D. The project looks great, and if you fancy the nostalgic 80s, check it out.
If you rather play in the future, after an apocalypse and fall of society, check out The Wildsea RPG. It presents a world covered in a verdant green and with a quite aggressive nature. The illustrations are lavish and d6 system ~ inspired Belly of the Beast and Blades in the Dark among others ~ is quite interesting. I am having an eye on it, and do recommend it. The Neon Lords of the Toxic Wasteland present a more classic take on the postapocalypse. The game is B/X based, the setting has the description „ultra violent“ and the illustrations remind me of 80s/90s comic. Check it out, if that sounds like your cup of tea.
For afficiandos of gamebooks, there’s the Metal Heroes and the Fate of Rock: A Rock/Comedy Gamebook. The book is a translation of a German gamebook and comes with a soundtrack. It’s cool, I am tempted by the German version and do highly recommend it. What Dreams May Come is a more classic gamebook, that offers a surreal horror story alongside beautifully haunting illustrations. Take a look.
There are many other cool projects. Fans of the MÖRK BORG RPG might like to checkout the sourcebook Strange Citizens of the City and play through the The Masticator Gate campaign. B/X enthusiasts can check out the Lost Triptych campaign. If you like some fancy dice, take a look at the Metal Bullet Dice. Well and you can place them right into the little wings of the dragon figurines of Draconis Vitae Dice by Geek and Artsy. Though maybe you just want a Grizzly Owlbear Plush during corona?

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #155, including every tabletop rpg project started between 11/01 and 11/08.

Despite I all challenges, I am back with a small, but excellent collection of ttrpg crowdfundings project started last week. Let’s delve into it.

I would like to start by presenting you Summon Skate. The project is about funding the translation of an existing Japanese ttrpg. The game itself has the players fighting strange, nightmarish monsters by summoning counter measures and fighting them… via figure skating. Which happens in a somewhat different temporary dimension, akin to X/1999. The game offers various difficulty settings and various game modes from conventions to campaigns. It’s really cool, and deserves more support. I am in and you should take a look. Maybe you like skeletons and want to have a fun game for one shots? Bones and Basements has you covered. You’ll be trying to please the Lich lord. It provides a rulelite system and fun approach to do so, thus take a look. Then there’s Nuclear Winter wonderland! For a glowing christmas season. Well, you’ll be playing Santas elves, who have to provide him with stuff to build toys for kids. Only problem, you are playing in a post-nuclear war world. It’s cute, zine sized and rules lite. Neat! Maybe you want to Boldy Go! where no one has gone before and explore space. Well, Boldly Go has you covered. While taking cues from Star Trek (TOS & TNG), the game only spans 80 pages, yet still enables you to craft your ship, crew and captain next to your characters. Take a look!
Of course there are more projects. Vice & Virtue a system-neutral mechanic to spice up your game with moral challenges and options to open up the direction of your games to players input. I am quite tempted. Fans of D&D 5E get a multitude of sourcebooks, adventures and with The Eastmere Lands a fresh setting. There are beer inspired dice with the Brew Dice, that actually look good, as do the SD Dice, Sharp Edge Dice Collection. Though am not sure about putting sharp edge dice into soap. You’ll find that Alis Games finances the Polish translation of Kult. Well and the two French projects – Hong Kong – Les Chroniques de l’Étrange and 27C – do look cool tool.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #157, including every tabletop rpg project started between 11/29 and 01/12.

Happy New Year! Following another long break, I am back with a fresh and illustrated collection.
I still remain at the clinic, yet finally could free some time and had the energy to go back to it. Sadly, a lot of projects have been started and ended between the last and this collection. I mentioned the ended projects I am aware off, at the end of the illustrated „live projects list“.

Considering there are currently 77 projects live, 19 English ttrpgs, I will keep the prologe to a few projects that caught my eye. Which enables me to get the list out today, and not at Sunday when likely a ton of new „make 100“ projects have been started.

I personally backed the The Monsters Are Our Heroes Print Tabletop RPG Zine. It offers a neat little game, in which I can play a Vampire ~ or a different monster ~ at a rather nice backer level and it looks like it is made with enthusiasm. Check it out. Then my eye caught the game Those Who Wander. While I am not such a big fan of „fantasy“ games, the inclusive approach to character creation caught my eye. As did the colorful cover of Space Aces: TNG (The New Guidebook). Which is a neat, little science fiction game. I am as well tempted to back the gamebook Alba – an Open World Adventure Book. It’s presentation is interesting, and the additional material is rad, maybe I’ll back it later on.
Fans of the Powered by the Apocalypse system should check out Babes in the Wood RPG, a game about having halloween themed adventures for kids, and/or ABYSS which rather induldges in supernatural Action-Horror ala Castlevania or Hellsing. Rune and Steel mostly caught my eye, as it kind of looks like the German tabletop rpg juggernaut The Dark Eye, though I haven’t delved deeper.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #158, including every tabletop rpg project started between 01/12 and 01/17.

This Sunday the collection is back to its regular schedule, the number of projects isn’t as big as before, yet there are quite some nice ones among those started. Let’s get to them.

The game Dungeon Bitches pretty much had my attention with its name. As suggested by the title, you’ll be playing female or non-binary characters exploring and existing within a dungeon; in which they might feel more at home than within the outside world. The ruleslight game, that’s based in Powered by the Apocalypse systems, focuses on drama and relationships. The artwork is quite unique, and I’ll be trying to fit a physical edition into my budget. The game End Times has the characters engage in time travel to prevent one apocalypse, likely to be followed by the need to prevent another one and another one. Though it is less the characters in person travel through time (save from normal living) but rather their conciousness. The quite interesting setting can be played and explored by using either a Powered by the Apocalypse rules set or the „ORC 2.0“ system. Thus, enabling different approaches. In Coils of Chaos the apocalypse apparently has already taken place creating rather chaotic fantasy future. Which is fascilitated with the „Crux Engine“, using d4 dice which consequently can be upgraded to bigger dice.
If you are looking for a game more on the storytelling side of RPGs, check out Tapestry. You apparently lay out cards with buzzwords on them out akin to a domino game, and create the story along the impulses given. Which I consider quite fascinating.
This time around, I’ll be highlighting two Patreons as well. Let’s start with Nerdbert. He creates beautiful custom character sheets for Vampire: The Masquerade 5th edition, which I previously featured on my blogs. Considering I featured them, it is suffice to say that I do like and cherish them, and thus back his endeavor. You can get even more character sheets via the patreon of OldMightyFriendlyGamer (OMFG). His V5 sheets are quite stunning, and thus I joined to offer some support of mine as well. Hence my recommendation to check out both patreons.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #160, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/07 and 02/15].

This time around there are 48 ZineQuest projects, 12 of those a tabletop roleplaying games and gamebooks. There are 153 ZineQuest projects as well (I put those in another article).

If you are a fan of the works of Jane Austen, you should check out the newest edition of the Good Society: A Jane Austen RPG. The creators of the game, do offer a new card set as well, and proved to be reliable when I backed the first edition. Thus, you should check it out. I did actually back Inner City Redux. It is an rpg with quite a history, which focuses on 60s to 80s style police/action dramas. The newest edition claims to offer the option to play at both sides of the law, which had me intruiged. If you like generic/universal game settings, maybe take a look at the card based Oracle Roleplaying System? The artwork looks solid. Then there’s the Freelancer: Skies Over Tolindia Roleplaying Game, in which you can explore an industrial fantasy world. Or maybe you like superheroes? In which case, check out Amazing Heroes.
Fans of fantasy, can’t or shouldn’t look past the newest edition of THE ONE RING™ Roleplaying Game! It is quite beautiful to look at, offers the setting in all its depths and the system apparently manages to transport the feeling of the book (according to friends). If you are maybe looking for rather Ghibli inspired fantasy, check out Our Traveling Home by Ash Kreider. It’s a PbtA game with 5 playbooks, which aimes to enable you to create positive, light hearted stories. They did as well put a design focus on highlighting queerness, including queer sexualities and nonbinary genders, as well as give room and portray minority groups. I do like the approach, the artwork and Ghibli movies, and thus recommend you check it out.
If you are up for an science fiction system, check out the D&D 5E OGL based game Farsight. It looks nice. With Reborn in Power: Codex 0 you’ll get even more science fiction.
There are plently more projects. Like the setting Trudvang: Seed of Vanirs, the Roll4It Pride Dice, or the Pride D20 Enamel Pins. You will find these, and many more projects in this article..

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Zine Collection #160, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/07 and 02/15.

This time around there are 153 ZineQuest projects, 84 of those a tabletop roleplaying games and gamebooks. There are 48 „normal“ projects as well (I put those in another article).

These are way to many games, to give each one a shout-out. Thus I’ll be sticking to those, which I backed or marked for later considerations.
Thus I will start with Tension. It focuses on the tensions between a detective and a criminal, not unlike shows like „Hannibal“. As I am a fan of the series, I decided to back the project. The game Denial & Yearning: A Trashy Lesbian Romance Novel Game offers quite exactly what the titles describes. An additional note I would add, is that it is one of the „two player“ roleplaying games, that you’ll be playing with one other person. I backed Once Upon a Time in New Centauri, based on its optics and theme, yet the project surprisingly ended between publishing my German edition, and this one. Thus, it only gets an honorably mention. The sourcematerial The Journal of Fantastic Linguistics offers a look at crypto linguistic (how „made up“ languages work). I am quite fascinated by languages in general, and thus jumped in.
Then there is Natalia’s Guide to Necromancy, that introduces more necromancy and vampires into D&D 5E. The Vampire Cruise OSR adventure, sport my favorite creature as well, alas, only as antagonists. These, and many, many more projects, you’ll find in this article.

I present to you the new Crowdfunding Collection #161, including every tabletop rpg project started between 02/15 and 03/03.

This collection contains about 76 „normal“ projects, which is completed by 82 ZineQuest projects.
As the collection spans a bit more than two weeks, some projects have ended. You’ll find the ended projects at the end of the list of English projects.

In regards of the ZineQuest, I would like to highlight and recommend the work by Emily McGlawn. She collected all ZineQuest projects from marginalised folks into one google document. Which offers the added information, which of these projects funded, and which didn’t.

I would like to start with Coyote & Crow. The setting offer a vision of America in which the native haven’t been colonized, and places the players into a near future scifi scenario with fantasy elements. The game is build upon a d12 system and looks cool. Added that the game is actually designed by a team of native american designers, I was very likely to back it. As there is no shipment option for Germany, I might pick it up from a FLGS in the future. If you take alook at the Universe Ball Anthology you’ll find two scifi roleplaying games, who take a comedic approach inspired by works like „Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy“ and „Doctor Who“ among other. I like the look and recommend checking it out. Then there’s Vessel, which mixes scifi and fantasy. You can take a look at the alpha and beta editions of the game, and if financed, the game PDF will be available for free.
I headed the more general category with DIESEL, as I do enjoy the artwork. The game offers a mix of cyberpunk and western, and it utillizes a d6 based system. The fantasy setting of Greyplains, a OSR game that aims to be enjoyable for 5E enthusiasts, offering diverse mechanics and fast combat. I got „Dark Souls vibes“ from it, and hence think it’s worth checking out. If you got kids, maybe take a look at Crafty Quest Box. It’s a rpg that has quite some crafting elements addressed to childrend, and looks like it is fun. Maybe you are looking for a more mature theme like modern warfare. In which case you might take interest into the second edition of the Ghost Ops: Second Strike game.
Then there is the very small game Adventure Coasters, which utilizes coasters for dungeon creators, and if you like to check out a solo game, take a look at the Journeys: Dungeon Descent RPG.
I personally backed the LARP script for Just a Little Lovin‘. A game set in San Francisco during the AIDS crisis. I heard only positive stuff during my attendeces on conferences, and hence jumped in. Though I am hesitant to stay in, as the shipping is kind of harsh – if you can’t pick it up. Next to that, you’ll find that Make A Scene Larp Anthologies offers an interesting selection of scripts, worth checking out.
I did back the sourcebook Victorian Mage for the 20th anniversary edition of Mage: The Ascension. I am a fan of the WoD, I was genuinely surprised when I found the project, and the book looks rad. I am still pondering whether or not to back Remarkable Cults & Their Followers – GM Guide for Any RPG. While it might be more focused on fantasy, than VtM appropriate urban fantasy, it does looks quite interesting.
There are many more projects, like the Gelatinous Cat Plushie. You find these and more here:
